Rays' Alex Faedo: Starts rehab assignment Starting to rehab now. Feels like the Rays are the perfect option, they've obviously seen stuff like they like (likely his filthy slider) and can maximize his value. Remember Singer outdueling Mize in 2018, now Mize is probably Tigers #2 behind Skubal.
The Braves acquired Dane Dunning from the Rangers. He's only really had the one good season in 2023, but considering the state of the Braves rotation right now he'll get plenty of opportunities to show something over the second half of the season.
2 innings no hits 4 k's outta the bullpen tonight vs the Rangers, Wyatt was one of the strikeout victims.
Odd how the make believe Commissioner sent his plane to get the Cincinnati Earl to Bristol but Hurston had to take a 5 hour car ride—all things equal and all.
Some things are more equal than others. But really wouldn't you gladly drive 5 hours if that road led you to the bigs?
This looks like the right thread to park this tidbit in. Here's the full story. Florida Gators aren’t just a football school and the MLB numbers prove it
Waldrep has had a pretty rocky go of it in the pros, even though the splitter really is deadly. The problem is that he's not able to get into enough favorable counts to really take advantage of it. His fastball has good velocity but not much movement, and he has poor command of all of his non-split pitches. So he's not able to get hitters into the two-strike counts that really let him show off the splitter. Instead, he ends up in too many 2-0, 2-1, 3-1 counts where he has to throw strikes with his fastball, and it's not good enough for him to get away with that. That said, these last two MLB starts have been really impressive. I'm both a Gator and a Braves fan, so I hope he puts it together.
I think Braves manager Brian Snitker mentioned something about Waldrep using his sinker more than his 4-seamer these last couple outings which has really helped
