1. Moderators are off limits, period. If you want to address their post or where you disagree, that is fine, but saying, "I can't believe that this person is a Moderator," will not fly with me. 2. Stay on topic. I know who loves and hates each politician, but if a thread does not address that, keep on topic. Not every thread needs to turn into a "this politician sucks or that politician sucks." Address the topic at hand. 3. Calling someone that likes a politician that you do not like a "pedophile supporter" or any other name is not allowed. We are all assholes at times, and none of us died on the cross for your sins...we need more decorum in this forum, and if you are unwilling or unable, then find a dedicated political site that supports your views, do not bring that crap here. 4. No trolling. A few of you seem to think that you are the smartest person on the forums, and you take aim at posters that you disagree with in every thread. Address the topic, and do not trash the posters. Agree or not, be respectful of the posters. 5. My moderators are off limits. Deserves repeating as some of you always want to find fault with them. They are volunteers and are not going be the subject of your angst towards them. 6. Lets tone down the temperament of THFSG. The vitriol is out of hand, and name-calling will not be permitted. @ETGator and @tilly are the forum admins...if you have a problem, reach out to one or both of them. Trying to sidestep them and continuing the verbal assault will not fly with me, and will just expedite your demise. 7. I do not read this forum except when responding to a reported post. And that is another point that I want to make...too many reported posts are strictly by political ideology...the amount of reported posts by someone that you disagree with, but you overlook the post that may have led to the response is not going to happen on my watch. If you don't like an opposing post, but overlook a post by someone that you agree with does not work for me. I will strip your "REPORT" functions if you abuse the report mechanism. 8. @rivergator and @g8orbill are not going anywhere. I am also looking to bring on two more moderators...one left leaning and one right leaning. Tiily, ETGator, rivergator, and g8orbill are going to be my eyes and ears in this forum. Failure to follow the rules will be punished accordingly. I am operating one a "one freebie," and two will get you locked out of the forum for a few days. You are all adults I would assume, and you know the expectations...if you can't follow the rules, then "don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you."
Are you suggesting that we treat moderators different than any other posters except for the no-block rule?
No suggestions, rules. If a moderator is actively engaging in the thread and conversation, you can disagree with them like any other poster and respond to their post. My problem is with some posters saying, "I can't believe that GC has you as a moderator." Once we give our opinions, we are part of the thread. The snarkiness is what I am talking about.
All that I am trying to do is to make this a forum where we can agree to disagree, but do it respectfully. I stay out of this forum because honestly, I don't give two shits about anyone's political leanings, and two, the vitriol is over the top. I just want it to be toned down a bit, and to make it a place where you can come and not feel like you are being abused because of your views. For the most part, you are all Gators' fans, but the histrionics and vitriol in this forum has been elevated to intolerable heights. I want that to change.
. Speaking only for myself I feel that I have to metaphorically walk on egg shells for fear of offending posters who fall into a certain category. I was banned on July 14 for allegedly insulting another poster although the mod who banned me never cited the specific insult for which I was banned. Maybe it's just me but the need to self-censor has really limited the free for all give and take that have characterized this board for years.
The problem is is that many posters have taken THFSG as a free for all to abuse anyone that they disagree with...not happening anymore. Disagree, but be respectful. There are too many posters that have to resort to name calling, and that is going to stop. If someone cannot follow that rule, then I will address it. And most of you do not want me to get involved.
My problem was that the mod who banned me never cited the specific offensive language in the post responsible for the ban. He simply stated that I insulted another poster and when I received the initial notice of the ban the reason was even more vague stating that I had violated the rules without even giving the reason.
Does repeatedly posting here posts aggregated from X, but providing no comment, nor verifying accuracy of reposted content ..... count as trolling?
Then that means you got a warning point and your accumulated warning points triggered a site-imposed ban.
