Zelensky ready to throw in the towel ? Maybe he’s just tired of killing millions of Russian *yuck-yuck* Zelensky Says 'It's Time To End The War' - But Won't Identify Any Concessions | ZeroHedge
Hilarious. If Russia never intended to go into Kiev, why was there a mad dash towards Kiev at the outset of the war? We may never know why Russia faltered at the outskirts of Kiev, but I suspect that Putin held back the general that was on the verge of capturing Kiev due to his own paranoia. If the general had invaded Kiev successfully (and with only his own troops present), then he would be a war hero the likes of which Russia had not seen since WWII. Putin would have viewed that as a threat to his leadership. So Putin ordered the general to sit tight until other generals could approach the city and they could all enter at the same time and share the glory. Putin almost certainly believed at that point that Kiev was "in the bag". Until it wasn't. No one in the Biden administration thought that putting sanctions on Russia would stop the war in the short term. Sanctions were always a long-term solution. The issue with social media posts is that confidence and morale are a big part of winning a war. Not every military is comprised chiefly of Rambo's and John Wayne super-soldiers. No one was saying that social media posts would "mostly win" the war. Biden did at least ten times as much as Trump has done to defeat Russia and help Ukraine win the war. Trump should probably stick to offering to carry Biden's jock strap. Russia's economic growth has been mostly created by nationalist takeovers of foreign company operations in Russia, and neglect of Russian infrastructure, along with Russian oil sales to India and China, throwing all excess money into weapons and soldier bonuses. Growth has been slowing down. You can only neglect infrastructure so long, and you eventually run out of foreign assets to seize. The sanctions are working, even if a little slow for our liking. Most experts are giving Russia less than a year before their economy implodes. Your news was from last year. You should try getting your news more than once per year. Most grownups do.
A nice article on Ukraine's Timur special forces unit. The long-feared special forces unit that ‘wiped out’ a Russian battalion This unit even broke away from the War in Ukraine to fight Russian Wagner troops in Sudan (that's in Africa, for the MAGA faithful).
I’ve wondered about that. Russian army seems disorganized and would seem to be ripe for ops invading behind their lines.
Zelensky undoubtedly wants to end the war. That being said there is no way that he will given in to Putin and voluntarily disarm.
Can someone give me the Readers Digest version of why dugger dad likes Russia so much? Possible answers: he is a Russian or has family there, he might be Putin himself, he bought a Ukrainian car and it was a lemon, a Ukrainian girl broke his heart. Maybe he doesn't like the US or war in general. In which case he should be against Israel. I'm ok with people having opposing viewpoints just curious as to the motivations.
There are a few posters that are on ignore. Dishonesty, and constant misrepresentation/ and being disingenuous puts them there. The board reads much better without that dealing with that behavior.
I can’t see his posts to see how he’s framing it, but historically he’s anti US, not pro Russia I think. Whatever argument he came make that tears down the US is his jam. Years ago when he was Dreamliner he had a long thread about how the US was actually the cause of WW2 and defended Germany and Japan. I also think it’s partly a game for him, he loves to play the provocateur, and once he gets into the argument he enjoys getting folks riled up - not in a gaslighting way, but in a “yes there’s actually another POV and I will prove it ” kind of way. But that’s why I have him on ignore, his schtick got old long ago, he’s trying to prove a counterpoint not matter how hard he has to stretch, not bring genuinely interesting info.
From a Ukrainian source, but I assume the data itself is valid. I’m sure it’s all part of Putin 8d chess some here seem to want to believe.
However I fear the coming meeting will go " Hey Vlad, how about I let you keep everything you've conquered so far, we won't let Ukraine join NATO, and then in a couple of years you can circle around and grab the rest? Well, TACO that will work only if you remove all sanctions on Russia, require elections to get rid of Z, and stop military aid to Ukraine." TACO: " deal if you support me for a Nobel Peace Prize"
In consenting to talks with Trump, I suspect this is permitting to save face for bellowing demands the US can’t back up.
Historically, Trump kowtows to Putin. This doesn’t look good for Ukraine. “Just when Ukraine and its European allies thought President Donald Trump was coming round to their view of the war, he appeared to give a huge win to his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. For Kyiv, this was Trump’s deadline to Putin: stop the fighting by Friday or face tough new economic sanctions. Instead, Trump has handed Moscow a diplomatic coup by agreeing to meet Putin face-to-face in a matter of days, their first encounter since the invasion of Ukraine.” With Zelenskyy sidelined from Ukraine war talks, Trump appears to hand Putin a diplomatic win
Geez. I figured the tariff threat was play acting, but if true… this is bad. Like… Putin’s wildest dreams type bad. How whacked out is it that Ukraine is not even part of the peace talks? Under what authority can the U.S. sign over Ukraine sovereignty or territory without their presence or agreement? It’s absurd (if not outright criminal) on its face.
It is. This seems more like a strategic business move considering China is the biggest threat. The Admins strategy is “more energy can be focused on China and Europe can handle Europe”. Iran is quiet for a minute and Israel is making all the noise in the Middle East. Tariffs=war machine funding and I’ve had too many beers.
