We dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, killing 60-80K people instantly and 140k by the end of 1945. Bit of trivia I had not known until now. The captain of the Enola Gay, Paul Tibbets, went to UF for 2 years.
He probably knew John Egbunu. I think that was the year he first got hurt. He'll be back in January though. (A little NBN inside joke. See how I crossed threads there? )
It's been renamed. OG name was woke. I recently saw the EG in the A&S museum outside DC. I spent more time just staring at it than any other craft there. Including the shuttle.
So, I was standing there looking at the EG in that museum a few years back, and an obviously oriental young lady asked me to take her picture next to the plane. I’m still shaking my head over that one, but she could have been American and she had family that fought in the war, or maybe Chinese (but I didn’t thank so).
