He literally publicly ordered them to do this over a week ago.

As always, it's impossible to tell whether his dishonesty, criminality, and dipshittery is more un-American and insane or ...... the fact that grown American adults are willing to go along with it.

"We have an opportunity in Texas to pick up five seats. We have a really good governor, and we have good people in Texas. And I won Texas. I got the highest vote in the history of Texas, as you probably know, and we are entitled to five more seats," Trump claimed.

    also ;

At the same time, he criticized Democratic governors are working on plans to potentially draw new congressional maps in their favor and used it as an argument for the efforts in Texas to continue.

"That's all gerrymandered. California is gerrymandered. We should have many more seats in Congress. In California, it's all gerrymandered," the president said.

To be fair, at least it's nice for him to basically overtly state that he doesn't care about integrity, laws, norms, honesty or citizens being fairly represented. It's solely about having power.

Trump says Texas Republicans 'entitled' to more seats as redistricting showdown continues

Imagine being an American adult and empowering a person like him.

He's such a fool. Trump won Texas with 56% of the vote. Repubs hold 66% of the congressional seats in Texas. Based on those ratios Repubs are 'entitled' to 4 fewer seats in Texas.

Harris won California with 58.5% of the vote, yet Democrats hold 82% of the House seats. Republicans are "entitled" to 12 more California house seats. California is a much larger problem than Texas.

I see you conveniently omitted that California would only be doing this in response to the vile, un-American Trump-led initiative to re-gerrymander a state mid-decade, as opposed to adhering to the common practice of doing it every 10 years when the census data comes out.

Why are you ignoring the fact that it is Trump who is leading this nation into further vile politicization? Aren't you proud of the leader you voted for?

Reapportionment is not supposed to be decided by candidate popularity. It is supposed to be about census population and demographic party registration data.

Voter registrations in Texas as of last October shows Democrats are 47% of the state total (Repubs 38% and NPAs 15%).
So instead of districting that allows the Dems to have a majority of seats, TX (like Georgia) thinks that a more senatorial approach is to allow 254 counties (many of of sparse population) to determine district boundaries. That's why there are only 14 Democrats out of 38 U.S. Representatives now.

This latest effort truly is dirty pool on a grand scale. 47% of TX voters are Democrats, but the plan is to cheat the system even more.

In a representative democracy citizens are entitled to vote for, and be represented by, the representative of their choice.

It's disappointing to see anyone, you in this case, repeat Trump's un-American ideas that a president's false "entitlement" should supersede the rights of voters.

But then again, we saw him literally try to disenfranchise 10s of millions of voters by illegally trying to overturn an election. And we saw sadly and amazingly still see people who have no problem with that. So sadly none of this is a surprise. Quite a lot of people are willing to throw their loyalty to our country straight into the gutter for ...... Donald Trump.

California already redistricted in 2021 and created the districts that they have now. Are you saying the California districts are fair representative of the state?

    So did Texas.

California doesn't have a partisan redistricting process (they utilize a commission with 5 Democrats, 5 Republicans, and 4 people who are members of neither party). Texas does have a partisan redistricting process (in which Republican politicians decide their own districts). But even the partisan process wasn't enough.

Why do you advocate against bipartisan processes and apparently advocate for partisan ones becoming even more partisan?

Tbh, I haven't studied California Congressional districting. I assume you have, since you clearly have a strong opinion on it.

Could you please share what you know?

Also; you seem to be justifying what Trump is advocating in Texas because ..... California is really really bad. Is that accurate?

look at the election map. It doesn’t look gerrymandered.

2024 United States presidential election in California - Wikipedia

    with a 58% majority

congress was 60%. Historically it was probably higher

2024 United States House of Representatives elections in California - Wikipedia

To get closer to the 60% in this case, you would have to gerrymander in favor of the Republicans.

in ca the split is fairly uniform across the coastal areas. TX is a bit more complicated with blue cities, red suburbs and red rural - then border areas that seemed to have flip flopped but are pretty close.

So I take it from your responses that you favor out of cycle gerryrmandering at Trumps request for no other reason to help Republicans?

Trump sets the agenda then MAGA is required to use spaghetti logic to justify such agenda

If there is anything that doesn't benefit Trump then it is rigged

Well I'm not the one who said parties are 'entitled' to a certain number of seats. That was your boy Trump. Trump is a fool.

I think the point is neither party is “entitled” to any seats, just the right to run for them.

Imagine living in Mass, RI, Vermont, NH, Delaware, Conn, Hawai'i, or New Mexico. They have zero Rep seats. That is A+ gerrymandering. Some of those states, like NH, have as many as 48% registered Republicans. Yet... Texas.

Ditch the machines. Have one day voting with paper ballots and show an ID. Give me that, and you can gerrymander all you want.

The supreme court could have stopped it a few years back but they didn't, so odds are there is just going to be an arms race. One last FU from Anthony Kennedy on the way out.

The issue here is mid-decade gerrymandering, which has never been done and now is solely because Donald Trump wants to further debase our country for political gain. Please stay on topic.

Also, here's a pretty interesting interactive map on partisan gerrymandering. Most of the blue states you reference receive pretty good marks. However, look at all those red states gerrymandered for Republican gain. That upsets you, no?

    Right here
There’s no way to perfectly know a large diverse group of people, monk, but using “the libs of tik tok” is a guaranteed way NOT to know that group. If you’re interested in actually learning who liberals are, I’d be happy to help us try to find a more informative source.
