Watched the replay yesterday. Our offense was reasonable but defense was outstanding and won the game going away. Same with Ole Missy. If Lagway continues to improve..., good receivers and running backs behind a very good O line we'll be better offensively and if the defense continues to play well we'll be a contender.

Those 2 games were complimentary football. We made the plays that were needed and imposed our will. Especially late in the games. Hopefully we keep building on that confidence.

Those two victories COULD turn out to be a huge milestone on the way to "relearning" how to beat just about anybody. That young, beleaguered UF squad seemed to cross a Rubicon in that final stretch - from feckless and feeble to focused and fearless. I personally can't wait to see if that trend continues. GG!

Gumbs had a hella game. I think Plyburn saw the writing on the wall that his snaps would be limited and transferred. Not that Jack had a terrible game, but Gumbs was elite. He has become a favorite player of mine since that game.

Expect to see a lot of that this year (meaning we are going to be conservative on O). We are tbhin at DT and we're going to play ball-control on O to try to keep them rested and uninjured.

I would rather try to outscore and demoralize the opposition with the offensive weapons we have than play it close the vest and allow the other team stay in the game and within striking distance. But then we are in the Napier era, not the Spurrier one so you're probably right.

Kind of like how SOS said that '90 game in 'Bama was proably the biggest victory for Gator Football.
That it set the tone for what they were able to accomplish moving forward.
I am excited for what BN appears to be building. Listening to Josh Pate made me even more excited.
There was a cloud hanging over this program for quite some time and feels like that cloud is lifting.
    "Here Comes the Sun"!!!

However, what an absolutely BRUTAL schedule coming up!
Looking forward to see how this team responds.
    Go Gators!

    Sorry, reality check:
LSU had 92 plays to our 43
25 first downs to our 13
Had the ball for 41:43 to our 18:17 and had more total yards 392 to 339. I know the score is the only stat that counts but this was far from a dominating performance.

LOL. No one even came close to suggesting that UF dominated that game statistically, or in any other way - except of course in crunch time when the game was on the line. Some of us, however, are able to recognize and acknowledge the "reality" that pulling off a hard-fought victory against a strong opponent that had held the upper hand for most of the game was something we haven't seen in a while. And FTR, going toe to toe with the #9 team in the country, and knocking them out of the POs the very next week, was also further evidence of "real" team growth. Incidentally, talking out of both sides of your mouth with "stats are the meaningful reality here" and then in the next breath admitting that the score is the only stat that counts strikes me as being a bit lame, rhetorically speaking. Just saying.

So they had 4.26 yards per play to our 7.88. We were more explosive, while they relied on long sustained drives. And we won by 2 scores.

Explosives win games. Hopefully Billy takes advantage of our explosive offensive talent this year.

I am sure LSU will play coverage heavy at first on passing downs after watching tape on Lagway. I just hope camp and the first 2 games are enough time for Lagway to get more comfortable hitting the shorter routes when teams do that. He is already money on the deep routes.

Agreed. It's not like we have played explosive for three seasons and are now going to dial it back as part of a grand strategy to protect the Defense.

The circumstances before that game.... that team and staff showed a lot of toughness. Lagway made some monster plays while not being 100%, Baugh was unleashed... and the defense played with their hair on fire.

So, how is fantasy football working out for you? I say this because stats are stats and not insights in how a team is built and performs. Fantasy football is all about stats and basically nothing related to a football game.

Have you ever heard of "bending but not breaking"? Have you ever heard of "they can dominate between the 20s but can't seem to score TDs"? That is a much better definition of football than your take, IMO. But hey, you do you and I will do me.

In the end, all that matters is WINNING. I am quite sure you have an "inspiring" take of the NCAA basketball tournament and how the Gators played. Dem bums!
