John Smoltz, Tom Glavine, Greg Maddux, and Pedro Martinez struck out over 12,000 hitters combined. They faced Tony Gwynn 330 times. How many times did they strike out Tony Gwynn?
I don't actually know the answer to this question. Has any team had more HOF players on it than the 1969 Cubs and never play in the post season for as long as they had these players together? Four HOF players and nothing to show for it? Being from the SouthSide I HATE the Cubs. But they had Ernie Banks, Ron Santo, Ferguson Jenkins and Billy Williams all on the same team and couldn't beat the Mets that had Tom Seaver and a very youthful and not so good at that time Nolan Ryan,
I would say some small number. Tony Gwynn didn't strike out that often but on the other hand he didn't walk that often. He put the ball into play.
Late in my high school days I could stand at the back of the endzone of a football field and throw the ball through the uprights at the other end. Probably a 380 foot long throw. Adding at least 30 feet to that is awesome.
If you don't mind, I'll ask the next question. A similar question as the last, but my favorite player is one of the answers. Name the 7 players in the 500 hundred Homer club as well as the 3000 hit club?
Love both of those 2, but honestly never saw Mays play. The other 2 are great players as well, but one is connected to Roids. The other was my favorite growing up, truly underrated when you factor in his RBI,s.
