Those teams are consistently in the top ten and pretty much stay there. Georgia lost some games last year too. Bama hasnt been able to run the ball as well as they normally do. I think theres usually a high degree of of offensive output linked to the quality of the oline. We may have a really good line this year but its hard to consistently be at the top without recruiting the top players. If we have the best line in the nation this year which is possible, id have to believe its a bit of an outlier.
Definitely, and recruiting and over time. A great oline cant be just throwing a bunch of allstars on the field and telling them to block. It takes time to fevelop a line as a unit. Its much more than just talent. You can throw in a rb or receiver but a line needs time.
Not really an outlier when you consider inside the conference you have had really good OL from Kentucky and Arkansas who generally have abysmal recruiting compared to the usual suspects. I believe this is UF's recruiting strategy: low on freshman money and high on coaches to develop.
Kentucky and Arky have had a bit of success but nothing consistent. Its hard to consistently make great lines with less.
