    I think we’re closer on this than the back & forth. It sucked to lose him and I know the staff felt the same way. Money talks and he felt it was better opportunity with more $ there. It is what it is.

    For sure and to be clear I don’t blame them. Gumbs, McCray, Sapp, James, Woods, and Wiggins looks sufficient on paper just need it to translate.

    Predicted #12 for 2024 & finished #10. A #6 finish might mean 5-3 in the SEC vs 4-4 last year, and with our schedule, 5-3 might be fantastic. Even if we should beat TAMU/Ole Miss/UT, the schedule (I used Athlon rankings) might make that difficult.
    @Miami (10), Texas (1), @TAMU (18)
    then
    UGA (4), @UK, @Ole Miss (18), UT (21).

    I would say Gumbs broke out last year.

    I think it’s more complicated. I have no inside knowledge, but I think pyburn wanted more PT, namely pass rush opportunities. Now lsu might have lied to him, and maybe he isn’t good enough at rushing…but I don’t believe it was ever really about money.

    I really like Ja'Kobi Jackson. I wouldn't be surprised if he outperforms Jadan Baugh this year. He is more versatile than Baugh. Baugh is more explosive. Love having them both though.

    He was great against the run but not so much in coverage or pass rush. Its a bummer because 4th and one and hes on the field.

    Agreed. Early on, I thought Baugh to be the clearly superior back, but I no longer have any predictions among these two. Except pain for the other team.

    Offense: Aidan Mizell (my pick for last year but didn’t happen)
    Defense: LJ McCray

    Might be hard to get many snaps this year but it sounds like Woods is giving the starting tackles fits with his pass rushing.

    Woods is a great choice for having a breakout year!

    Pyburn is one player that I wish we had kept. His effort last year was relentless. I hope we can contain him when we play LSU.

    His energy stood out on the field. An unfortunate casualty of the chaos that is now cfb.

    Yes, it sucked to lose him. His edge play on the run game was stellar. We do NOT have anyone at the moment that can replicate that run game performance this season. Simple as that.

    Although gumbs appeared to be good at times, he still finished 178th out of 300 some ends in win rate so there is room for improvement.

    The problem was he was not versatile. He was all run stuffing and no pass rush. He is getting more money being a back up at LSU than at UF, and considering his NFL options that is probably more important to him, so I wish him the best except against us.
