It wasn't exactly a lack of competition--it was planned obsolescence. Americans at that time were wed to the carmaker that their parents drove (or that made the first car that they bought), and would drive cars from the same company over and over again regardless of how bad they got. They were obsessed with "buying American", until Toyota and others proved how much better Japanese cars were than American cars. Basically, the lazy automakers took their customers for granted. They assumed that the sooner their car failed (preferably after the warrantee period), the sooner the customer would buy an identical car from the same automaker they got the last one from. If Trump's plan is to get Americans to buy more Fords, Chevys, and Chryslers, his tariffs won't do it. Most major international carmakers already make vehicles in the U.S. The only thing that tariffs will do is cause the cars to be more expensive, as certain parts manufacturing will have to be brought back to the U.S., creating a few jobs, but jacking up car prices in the process. Won't affect billionaires.
More winning: Trump lies so much, he can't even tell the truth about his height. Trump claims to be 6'3" (and forces his doctors to claim the same), and yet he is about 4-5" shorter than an NFL kicker that is verified to be 6'4". Decide for yourself, but Trump looks more like 5'11" at the most. Time to start heightening with some thick-soled shoes. MAGA NFL Star, 6’4”, Towers Over 6’3” Trump
I don't think parroting everything dear leader is doing is "winning" it is more like lemming. Just spew what is being proclaimed regardless.
Do I hate that Trump has destroyed relationships with all of our allies? Yes Do I hate that Trump is on the path to destroying our economy? Yes Do I hate that Trump is destroying institutions that took decades to build? Yes Do I hate that Trump fires anyone who dares question him? Yes Do I hate that Trump is siding with a convicted child trafficker? Yes There's no reason to placate his ego by lying and saying he's doing a good job just because he's a thin skinned little [word that will probably get me a board vacation].
Boy is the economy in shambles. Just think there are 3 more years left of having the economy go downhill. We should be a 3rd world company by then.
Either Trump is right on tariffs or every economist on the world is right. Easy choice for me since he still doesn’t even understand the basic fundamentals of how they work. The main thing that will save us is when he inevitably reverses course.
They are .... and this is the "correction" of an article that was a product of that hate. The leftist media is simply incorrigible. Daily Beast apologizes and retracts article alleging a Melania Trump-Jeffrey Epstein link
More winning https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2025/08/02/usaid-expired-food-supplies-malnutrition/ Vast supplies of U.S. aid remain stranded, despite State Department promises More than 60,000 metric tons of food have languished in warehouses in the United States and around the world — with expiration dates nearing on some items.
https://www.wsj.com/economy/the-wild-week-in-the-american-economy-b5baae41?mod=mhp Winning winning winning! modest gdp growth (excluding temporary import impacts) modest job growth, prior month job growth was fake and had to be revised, ongoing inflation pressures, firing statistician for bad numbers like Kim Jung Un would do. “This past week, the fog lifted. On Wednesday, official data showed economic output and consumer spending slowed markedly over the first half of the year. Later that day, the Federal Reserve held interest rates steady, citing inflation and a solid labor market. It was vindicated by another report Thursday that showed price pressures remained stubborn, then contradicted in spectacular fashion Friday by a lower-than-expected rise of 73,000 jobs in July accompanied by a significant downward revision to the prior two months. Job growth in the past three months was the lowest since 2010, except during the peak months of the pandemic. President Trump was so upset at the data he fired the head of the statistical agency that produced it.” https://www.wsj.com/video/series/on.../454CCD42-512D-450D-BC55-4502AD7996AE?mod=mhp Economy is “treading water”
I've been reading that there is a good chance that the Fed might cut rates in September, if the economy continues to tank and unemployment keeps rising. Winning!
The Daily Beast voluntarily retracted the article a day after it was originally published. Although I could be mistaken I do not recall the right-wing media (Fox News, the NY Post, Newsmax and OAN being examples) ever voluntarily retracting an inaccurate article or representation. To the best of my recollection the only times that they have done so has been the result of litigation, the Fox $787 million settlement in the Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit coming immediately to mind.
Blind dismissal of valid concerns when you've chosen to worship a politician so you can't bring yourself to admit you disagree with anything he does.
Ever wonder how many people coal (Trump's favorite energy source) has killed in a two decade period in comparison to these two deaths? About a half million people in the U.S., that's all. The numbers would have been higher, except that large numbers of coal-fired power plants shut down (or converted to natural gas) between 1999 and 2020. Study: Coal power plants caused millions of U.S. deaths
