People of a certain age know about coming home from school and the Cubs on WGN. Before Wriggly got lights, all their home games were day games. Harry Carey calling the games and him being drunk by the 7th inning stretch.
It was a wonderful time to be a baseball fan. I flipped over to the Braves game almost every night....now I bet I don't watch a full 9 innings total the entire season. Sad.
You should. New rules have sped the game dramatically and it has a great pace. Baseball is better than ever....And I grew up watching TBS and WGN myself. Now if the Rays bullpen would just stop sucking out loud.
Not only drunk but also talking about which bar he was going to after the game. Those were good times
The Hawk and Tim Raines (both from Florida btw) made Montreal good. After they left Montreal was terrible and eventually became the latest Washington team. Hard to believe that the Murph broke into the Majors as a catcher.
Can't forget about Perimeter Pascal Perez at shortstop and Bruce "Eggs" Benedict at Catcher. Its bugging me that I can't remember who played in R and L Field.
Cardinal fan here. Sandberg was respected even though we hated him. That is we hated to see how much RBI's he racked up against us. RIP
