I’m pretty sure that honor goes to Mike Stanley.

Can we do another sport or two? If ok with you all, here are a couple of real doozies:

    1. NFL and scum head coach, Jimmy Johnson sat in his high school class next to someone very famous. Who?

    2. Former heavy weight boxing champ Mike Tyson was in a 6th grade class with someone who also became a champion in a sport. Who?

Who holds the NYY record for lowest career ERA amongst pitchers with at least 500 innings pitched?

The answer to these two are absolutely crazy. Ready. Picture the scene, high school class, sitting in class is football star and cool dude Jimmy Johnson. Next to him, seated in alphabetical order is none other than Janis Joplin. He told that story one day years ago in an interview, knew her well.

Next up. Mike Tyson. Future Heavy weight champ of the world. In his 6th grade class (in NYC??, I dont recall) was Future Heavy weight champ.........Riddick Bowe. They never met in ring. Should have. Bowe ended his career at 43-1, losing once to Evander Holyfield (I think RB beat him 2x). He should have fought Tyson and Lennox Lewis, but didn't. That connection came from Bowe himself. Imagine the 6th grade teacher telling that story years back and no one believing him/her.

I don't know the answer to this question but I have a good guess. Way back in the day kids played with H&B Signature wooden bats. I had all three of what I think were the most popular ones: Musial, Mantle, Fox.

When I was still in grade school the Mantle bat was way too heavy for me to swing. I loved the Musial bat. It felt perfect. The Fox bat I used against really fast pitchers because it was so easy to control for contact but not for power.

So which bat was the best seller?

I would guess the Mantle bat just because of MM. BTW Fox is the guy who very rarely gets mentioned and was a great player.
