One of my friends for grad school days was a tall guy who's dad ran a shoe store in very southern Illinois. He was a very good athlete (golfer winning the local championship while in high school, HS basketball (center), HS baseball (1B)) he was able to get to get oversized cleats and court shoes through his dad's contacts in the shoe business. Back injury took away his sporting prospects. Nice guy.
It is Hoyt. The list he has that could be trivia questions is very special. And I remember when he was elected there was some blow back in the media about a relief pitcher being elected to the HOF. Now we have Enter Sandman Mariano Rivera.
I know this one thanks to my mom. It is Joe Pepitone who is also on the great name team. I think moose played some too but not as much as Joe P.
This guy never batted , never played in the field yet scored 30 plus runs in less than a full season. He also played in a World Series.
Did the A’s in the early 70s keep someone on the roster just to pinch run? But can’t think of a name.
Who played 2nd base for the A’s during their run in the ‘70’s? Hint: He started all 19 WS games from 1972-1974.
I need to amend my last trivia question. While the person I am thinking of did play right field for the 1919 Yankees he wasn't the primary right fielder in spite of what Google AI says. I wanted to do some fact checking before posting the trivia question. I forgot to fact check AI. So I will add this hint that at the time of his retirement he was the oldest ever NFL head coach. That record has been subsequently broken. So now you have probably guessed that he is in the NFL HOF.
