Maxwell was already found to be willing to commit perjury to avoid going to jail in the first place, so anything she says would need to be corroborated independently. Given that Trump is a potential suspect, sending his personal lawyer to do the interview has already corrupted anything she may say. This should have been handled through the appointment of a special counsel, who has bi-partisan support, to be permitted to conduct an independent investigation.
