George Kooymans, Golden Earring guitarist and driving force of Europe’s hard rock evolution, dies aged 77
I think The Rock surpassed him, IMO, but he definitely started that trend. Also, best heel turn (NWO) in the history of the "sport". Completely reinvented himself and got an extra decade or two out of it.
TBH I didn't realize he was still alive and I'm a jazz trumpet player. RIP Chuck - I had some great times listening to you and the fabulous musicians you collab'd with.
The top wrestlers in Hillsborough county attended Brandon HS. Many transferred in from out of town even state. Manatee vs Brandon was the big match up back in the day. Both recruited the best wrestlers even though it was against FHSAA rules. Brandon has the longest winning streak in HS history. High school winning streak snapped after 34 years
Wrestling on Monday nights. The 80’s was fun to watch. Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby Heenan hosting, Jesse Ventura and Vince McMahon announcing, Hogan, Macho Man, Million $ Man, Jake the Snake and many more. Good times
My Sr year 69 Manatee and St Petersburg Northeast were co district/regional champions. In the 60s wrestling was just catching on in Florida so there was no district championship only regionals.
Reports from first responders was cardiac arrest. Cardiac arrest (electrical) and a heart attack (blockage) are two different things.
I've never revered fake fighting in a ring, but to each their own. I wasn't disappointed that he performed at the RNC convention. I just didn't care.
It's live-action soap operas. You watch for the exact same reason. It's silly, and preposterous, funny as hell and you want to see where they take the "plot". Also, one can appreciate the talent to pull off the moves, etc. On that note, Hogan was actually one of the worst (it was all about his size), with arguably the worst finishing move ever.
