It’s also literally what “Mexican Coke” is, and that’s pretty much available everywhere already.

I like American HFCS Coke. Never got the hype of Mexican Coke.

Would cane sugar be considered processed sugar?

I don’t think so. The main difference between the two sweeteners, as I understand it, is that HFCS sugars are unbonded so they are absorbed quicker into your bloodstream. I don’t think cane sugar is slow to absorb by any means, but it requires the bonds to broken down first. I assume this difference is akin to how brown rice is supposed to be better for you than white rice, though it seems studies on the two types of sweeteners are inconclusive as to one being less harmful to you.

And no, cane sugar and high fructose corn syrup metabolize into the exact same bi-products. HFCS starts out as 55% fructose and < 50% glucose + water. Cane sugar is 50% fructose and 50% glucose.

Finally, I don't care what they put in Coke, I do not drink it. However, as a shareholder, I will be pissed if Coke invests must more than a token amount of money to get MAHA to bugger off. In many large cities, Coke already offers Coke made with Cane Sugar during the Passover holiday. It would not be difficult to expand the lone production line that produces that version of Coke to 2nd line. However, if Coke cuts into profit margin over this stupidity, I will be one pissed off share holder.

Wonder how this ingredient change will impact Coke’s toilet cleaning efficacy?
