I’d like to think that was true but recent events (pandemic)have shown that even that doesn’t seem to sink in.
If that dumbass’ grizzly battlefield death in the service of stealing land for a brutal and incompetent dictator serves to wake up one person about what Russia is, then …
Links to your sources? Only a third of Donbas wanted to join Russia in 2014. And you have to remember, at the time, Ukraine was a much more corrupt country than they are now. Ukraine was also less prosperous than they were just prior to the invasion. They have cleaned up much of the corruption since the war started, so they could receive western aid. Presumably, the way that Russia has treated the residents of Donbas since the invasion (stealing their appliances, destroying their homes, etc.) has not improved public opinion in Russia's favor. Based on everyone's expectations, Russia has fallen short of achieving its goals in this war in a timely manner, and that is a huge understatement. Russia itself thought the war would only last a few weeks, yet it has been going for 41 months. Sanctions have gotten progressively tougher, and now average Russians are struggling to afford eggs and potatoes as inflation increases past 8% (and interest rates are at 20%). I don't recall any dems saying the war would be won by social media. Russia has lost thousands of tanks and thousands of armored personnel carriers, and over a hundred thousand troops. They still don't have air superiority over Ukraine. Their navy is basically out of the war completely, with their Black Sea flagship sunk, along with other ships. Russia is only a few months away from economic collapse. Without an economy, Russia will lose this war. The sanctions have been effective, but they won't win the war by themselves. Ukraine doesn't have to drive Russia out of their country--they merely have to play defense and retreat slowly towards Kiev, making the Russians pay for their gains. In less than a year, Russia's economy will collapse, and Russia will go home. There is no evidence that Ukraine is targeting civilians in this war, with the exception of a few Russian oligarchs involved in the military industrial complex of Russia. The attacks by Ukraine since 2014 were on terrorist Russians that Putin inserted into eastern Ukraine to destabilize the country. It was Putin's plan for a non-military takeover of Ukraine, with a backup plan for creating an excuse for an invasion.
lol.. a quick search will show you what has been going on since 2014. The mainstream lefty media even had articles back then talking about all the Nazi sympathizers in the Ukraine armed forces but of course all that was forgotten once the Ukraine War started. The facts are that area likes Russia better anyway and Ukraine won't be getting it back. Now would Russia have eventually took Donbass anyway? Not sure but it would have probably been years later. America needs to stop wasting all these billions just to kill all these people and to enrich Zelensky and his crooked friends.
I think he is likely referring to the same info that a now absent poster kept trying to say showed the AFU was shelling an area of the Donbas. It's not anything realistic.

For the hundredth time, we are not providing cash to Zelenskyy, we are providing weapons, and have been since the first few months of the war. Unless he is selling these weapons to third parties, it does not seem likely that he is cashing in on American donations to Ukraine. He may be pocketing money from the EU, but not from the U.S. Do you have any proof that Zelenskyy is crooked? I would put him up against Donald Trump every day of the week and twice on Sundays for ethical behavior, and he would win easily. Trump has been all about profit for himself and his cronies, and is as crooked as the day is long. Compared to Trump, Zelenskyy is a combination of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. He's also braver than President Bonespurs, but that goes without saying. You have not provided any evidence that Donbas likes Russia better than Ukraine. In the only referendums that I'm aware of (1991 and 2014), over 83% chose to belong to Ukraine (1991), and two thirds of the residents choose Ukraine (2014). Why don't you tell us what polls you are looking at? Donbas - Wikipedia The idea that there are Nazi sympathizers in Ukraine's military lost a lot of steam when it turned out that the U.S. military has Nazi sympathizers, and so does Russia's. It turns out that most western militaries have at least a few people who admire the Third Reich for various reasons. It does not mean that the entire military is a recreation of the Nazi military of the 1930's, or supports Hitler's policies. As far as the U.S. wasting billions of dollars, I would disagree with that. Sending weapons to Ukraine is a smart investment. Ensuring that Russia is defeated in this war will improve U.S. security (reducing the number of near-peer adversaries in the world from two to one) and reduce government spending on defense. In other words, spending billions now will save trillions in the next decade. It happened in the 1990's and would happen again. And China will think twice about invading Taiwan if Russia is not at full strength as an international trouble-maker to back up China.
It's called doing whatever it takes to defeat the enemy. This war is an existential one for Zelenskyy and Ukraine. I can't blame them for doing some wheeling and dealing to get what they need to fight Russia. It's all well and good to sit in your armchair and be sanctimonious about the details of every trade, but your life and your family's lives are not at stake based on the outcome of the war. No doubt, a few Ukrainians are trying to get rich off the deals, but that can be dealt with later. Winning the war is the top priority. And again, it is not American money that Ukraine is working with, and hasn't been since 2022. It is Europe's money. We only gave Ukraine cash during the first few months of the war.
