The only upside of mass-derangement, i.e., Covid, is we didn’t have to hear about how HFCS was killing us.

This isn't meant to be snarky, but does Coca Cola know they agreed to this? Or maybe they'll just add a real sugar option?

Coke with cane sugar is better, but that is absolutely not the case for Mtn Dew.

That was my first thought. It could well be real. But If Coke announces there’s no such deal, do they face a massive boycott?

Will probably increase the price. I think we tariff cane sugar from other countries.

probably not environmentally great for Florida, Brazil or any other tropical area that grows can sugar.

Yes, this is why “Mexican coke” is a thing.

But I’m pretty sure his actual point was Trump’s propensity to announce things nobody actually agreed to.

This is a weird thing for a POTUS to announce, let alone a Republican -considering where the corn lobby lives.

I try to avoid HFCS, and unless it’s my imagination it seems to me some companies pulled back on it after some consumer pushback like 10 or so years ago. Like… even products such as cereals and ketchup and barbecue sauce had it as sweetening (and I’m sure many still do, but I seem to note more emphasizing “pure cane sugar” to emphasize they aren’t using HFCS).

But that’s a good point. The reason a lot of products started using it in the first place, despite blowback, is because it’s so damn cheap. All about getting a few extra points of margin vs using cane sugar. This country produces an over abundance of corn. I’d wonder if sugar production could keep up as Coca Cola company i’d imagine would take a substantial slice of the market. McDonald’s had trouble using anti-biotic free meat for this reason, it was literally *impossible* for them to source antibiotic free chicken at the scale needed for McDonalds. They eventually had to settle on a compromise policy of suppliers that don’t use “antibiotics that are important to the human biome” rather than truly antibiotic free.

They still do. It never went away. You can find HFCS in bread at any grocery store. You can find HFCS in just about any product that requires sweetener. Prior administrations didn’t give a crap.

So you want to continue consuming HFCS? Never heard the argument that HFCS is more environmentally friendly than real cane sugar. Love how democrats will twist this to be a bad thing. Cant wait for the demonstration. We don’t want real cane sugar. We want high fructose corn syrup. Democrats are mentally insane with Trump Derangement syndrome.
