I don't think Texas needs to talk about money because the players already have a good idea what the rate will be, especially if they have other power school offers.
No matter what Sark says or does personally, they have people talking money with these kids and their handlers very early in the process. Just like everyone else does.
The point is, there's more to sell than money and more a staff needs to cover with a recruit before they offer anyway. Staffs have to evaluate more than just interest. We know our staff looks for attitude, culture fit, and more.
It certainly doesn’t hurt to be able to offer more money. Acting like it’s not a huge part of the process now is disingenuous.
Everyone with only moderate understanding of people and NIL know it's a huge part of the process. Education, resources, professional development, attitude, culture tests are still part of the recruiting process. When half a team is driving Lamborghinis, it's probably not necessary to constantly remind they pay well. Conversely, for a recruit to focus only on money should be a huge red flag to good recruiters.
Whether they focus only on money or not, it’s a part of the process now. It’s talked about early and often. Sark ain’t holier than thou.
Texas is foremost to say money is no object and with the ability and will to sustain it. Stoops' years of dominance and tamu's entry into the SEC set the stage. They're going to bankrupt some schools trying to keep up.
No and every company in America does this. Their only directive for these media days is to get the correct message out and try to get out of town having said everything on brand and on message. There is nothing said there for the purpose of disseminating information. I'm on the team working on an upcoming PR for my company and we're on like v200 because leadership is nitpicking every single word. These are the same way. Texas football marketing department probably put together a punch list for him to refer to and also wrote his speech. He is just there to execute.
It matters far more than anything else. All things being equal, take the cash. Syacuse sucks, take the cash.
100. It’s not Sark. It’s the network behind him that no one sees. We know he is a great play caller on offense, but so was Dan Mullen. And that’s his resume. He’s been in the captain’s chair at 2 other programs, with modest results. Can he handle that at TX? He’s getting waaaay too much love and trust, IMO. Still unproven.
Whenever I see pics like this with positive logos, whatever the team, it make me think of the phrase: "looks like tarzan, plays like jane." I hope that he will also play like tarzan, because I have a feeling he'll need to contribute this season.
