We do get caught up in the numbers of rankings and see the #1 OT go to Miami, and we get the 150 overall guy. What the coaches though see with this guy and at the value of not being a 5*, they have to be giddy getting him. His ceiling is through the roof, and he wasn't pushing around little kids in the Ozarks like Cantwell. Not saying Cantwell isn't incredible, just saying.
All American Eric Berry from Tennessee taking on Timmy head to head. Even he wondered what he was thinking.
The way Heze moves on the basketball court reminds me of former Gator great David Galloway, he even has a similar build. (although Kent is bigger) Galloway was an excellent basketball player at Brandon, as well as an outstanding football star.
And we spent a load getting DJ which gives the best chance of transcending a team as Ward did for Miami. Oline is my favorite difference maker as a unit but playmakers are important too. Nobody changes their gameplan for a line. Decisions have to be made on what the overall team looks like and im liking the way Napier is building this.
Galloway was all butt but he could really move. He was only about 235-240 when he got UF but put quickly put on 50 pounds without losing his quickness. Wasn’t Robin Fisher his line mate?
The offense is built for DJ to win the Heisman this year. Production at TE and the defense taking it to another level puts us in contention to be last team standing.
My roommate, myself and a couple of other buddies went down to the old Florida gym where you could play pickup games. We ended up playing against Galloway, Tim Newton, and others on the football team. They absolutely destroyed us. Tim Newton was not real tall but he probably weighed somewhere in the area of 275, which was pretty big back then. I don't know how many times he dunked on us but it was several. I just kept thinking there is no way these guys could move so well.
I sure hope it can come together . The pieces may be there. Is that a top 10 oline? Will DJ be a heisman candidate? Will Lyons take all those snaps and be looking like a Sunday guy? Who will be the starting five in our secondary and are they a strength of our defense. Rb and receiver- no worries. Amir Jackson, invisible or a weapon?
Ain't had no "early season" koolaide since 2020 Wanne, I'm ready to drink some! Should UF bust out at 5-1 or better yet, 6 - 0, I may have to add some Rum to it............
