2026 Gators Recruiting Thread

Much needed addition with McCoy. We have had a problem with recruiting and/or development at the edge for CBN's tenure.

 

Our average player rating on 247 is now 9th highest. A few more commits at this level and we have a top ten class in the works

 

Being he was the highest rated defensive lineman out of high school last year, I'm sure he's getting paid handsomely to be a back up in his second year.

 

I would think McRay would be the first experiment to see how it turns out. we didn't really have an elite one in his first class

 

The top two players at Jack will rotate. Not sure the starter will get any more playing time than the "backup." Gotta keep them fresh so they can go full speed on every down. I can see McCray getting PT at the other edge spot in certain down and distance situations.

 

I think that fans had too high of expectations about his impact in year one.

im sure he will. He has to perform.

 

I dont expect anything out of any freshmeb but year two is usually when elite players make a jump. Theres still plenty of examples of guys not starting until years 3-5 and becoming pros but i expect this nil era will be a little different. 5* guys arent getting 500 to a mil to sit.

 

It’s easy to say that now. At the time he was our first 5 star defensive line recruit in nearly 10 years. The expectations were inevitably going to be there.

 

No doubt. I think though that someone like Dallas Wilson has an easier path to impact than a guy who, although had the SEC body already but was throwing himself against 4th and 5th year OL.

 

There was experienced talent in front of him and he got snaps. If a freshman is playing, its usually a problem tgat caused it to be necessary.

 

Much easier position to transition.

 

There was experience in front of Lagway too. I think everyone can now admit he should have started game 1. #1 players at there position are making 7 figures. Time to grow up freshman.

 

Staff has to be willing.

 

And hindsight is 20/20.
If Lagway had struggled starting against Miami this board would have been flooded with posts criticizing CBN for throwing the true freshman QB to the wolves and destroying his psyche.
