It has to be about more than money during the process if normally our NIL is less. There has to be something UF offers that ranks higher than a little more per season at a school that might not be as good a fit. What else can the staff do except sell the school, program, training, use-in-system, etc? I'm not naive, I just don't know how much above our NIL some of these schools are offering. Is Texas paying 200k more per season? I don't know, but that would look good to me.

Good points Die. Here’s what I really wonder about:
We have a stable 2025 roster in place - pending a few late portal additions (I hope). So when we find ourselves bidding against Texass or Bama or the Mutts for a 2026 stud like we’re talking about here, my concern (and I hope Billy’s) isn’t as much about whether or not we have the money, but rather about the impact of the big bag for the new guy upon the “salary structure” of the existing team? I can imagine it’s easy to bump up against current NIL limits for the studs we already have in place.

Do we end up promising a high school kid more than we’re currently paying Sapp or Myles Graham? I wouldn’t think that would fly. I see the potential for “NIL compression” with everybody on the current roster getting a 5% or 10% bump to accommodate inflation in NIL from one year to the next. Any ideas how they might try to handle this?

We hope not but if other schools are, it puts a lot of pressure on the staff to compete and so, sometimes, maybe.

And to accommodate other schools trolling. Seems the NIL pool has to get bigger year by year.

None. It's odd to have a system of pay that seems separate from the staff and University.

What a freakin mess. And if they try to impose caps or install guidelines, the cheaters will cheat just like before this bullshit system took off.

I'm close to not caring about CFB. I'm going to be fully detached once they stop requiring these kids to go to school. I'll go back to watching the NFL.

I totally agree with this premise as something that should be considered. However, Sapp is not a good example as he is locked in for his final year.

Or we choose not to. Throwing increasing amounts of money at the next guys carries a real potential to create issues within the organization. You know someone is running risk/reward assessments on every guy we are courting.
