They chose to employ a top accounting firm to check these deals. Of course they are going to find that there was no valid business purpose, because collectives were formed for one reason only: to funnel money to players that their schools wanted to recruit or retain in any way possible to get them on campus. They were NEVER legit business organizations.

That being said, the CSC and the NCAA better pull on their legal hip-waders because they are about to get hit with a legal broadside from the players whose deals aren't being approved. You can bet there are dozens of lawyers salivating at the chance to gut (and get paid) this latest attempt to bypass the Supreme Ct ruling on "outside" player remuneration.

No one in their right mind would think any differently. Why not just own up to reality.

My belief is that the settlement, not only paid players past NIL compensation that they most likely didn't earn (Tebow would be an outlier here, but he got zero because he was outside the settlement class), but is being used by the power schools/conferences to put the team back together. Their goal for that team is to:
    • limit player movement with binding contracts (some without even a penny of guaranteed money!)
    • push booster money back under the table so that the sacred cows can go back to the business as usual (mostly) model.
As much as I despise all this fake NIL garbage, I hope that this plan gets blasted back where it belongs.....the circular file.

Yep, this is an attempt to restrict their earning potential which the courts have outright said isn’t gonna fly. If the fans/boosters want to give away their money for mostly nothing in return, who is the ncaa to stop them? As far as I know, there is no law that requires you to make sound business decisions. A million bucks for a photo op is a terrible investment, but if some entity is willing to pay for it, why shouldn’t they be able to?
