Still have hope for a solid season and enough money available that he decides to stay close to home. Oklahoma last season, 2-6 SEC, 6-7 overall. Weak.
And i also wouldn’t say JUST NIL. I mean, we gotta win and start winning big. The last 4 years of Gators football has made it hard to recruit even though we’ve dug ourselves out of the hole. keep recruiting him and get him on campus as much as possible this fall. I don’t have much faith in Ole Miss or/and OU this year and Texas got that money (and they’ll probably be damn good this year to boot) but keeo recruiting. also, we’re pretty solid at EDGE with the last few cycles so there’s that
The last 17 years has been pretty sad if you look at it as a whole. There have been a few peeks but mostly valleys.
exactly. While we’ve had a few 10 win seasons and winning records, it was A LOT of ugly outdated football we were playing. We HAVE to turn the corner big time on the field this year or we’ll probably be starting over yet again
And we have a tough schedule. Its to he determined how tough and we like many teams have many players with potential to be really good but not proven. Itll fall on our staff as to how good they turn out . Im hoping theres a dozen guys starting that will eventually be pros, we gonna need it.
Lets focus on the next guy. It's obvious. UF is not this kid's Dream school. This is not exactly breaking news, but I think kids say these things to drum up the financial package they’re looking for.
I'm sure you've noticed that the majority of top 20 players in the State have rarely stayed in Florida for College for the past 15-20 years. The usual destinations have just expanded from LSU, Georgia, Alabama, and OSU. Especially now that Texas has decided to become a player in pro college sports.
Well if he goes Texas I can understand the NIL angle - but it’s not as easy for me to see Ole Miss or OK outbidding us if we really want him.
We have a good roster and coaches. So many intangibles but having a few difference makers on both sides of the ball give us a real shot to be last team standing. So much rides on Lagway.
speaking of pros, and I may be wildly overthinking it, but I do think NFL representation matters a bit to recruits. Yes we are going to be one of the top schools with players in the league, but outside of Torrence, who’s elite (and even he isn’t elite yet with the Bills)? I can’t think of ANY former Gator who you would list in the top 10 at their position in the NFL. Yes it’s not on UF what a player does once he gets to the NFL, but you get my point. I can’t think of a Muschamp, McElwain, Mullen, or Napier recruit that was ever a top 10 player at their position in the NFL. Maybe CGJ, DJ Humphries, can’t think of anyone else lol
