Market was down less than 1% today. The 600 means way less with a Dow 44k than it did when the Dow was 20k. Also the Dow is only 30 stocks; the S&P is a more representative index for breadth.

The only people that should be concerned with short term moves are traders. Everyone else would do themselves a huge service by expanding their outlook/timeframe.

I agree, but I do wonder what the Trump administration plans to do with all the tariff revenue.

Stocks drop after Trump announces tariffs on countries including Japan and South Korea

The Dow closed lower by 422 points, or 0.94%. The S&P 500 fell 0.79% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite fell 0.92%. The three major indexes posted their worst day in about three weeks.

Stocks dropped lower midday after Trump announced 25% tariffs on Japan and South Korea, set to go into effect August 1. Stocks continued to fall in the afternoon as Trump announced tariffs of varying rates from 25% to 40% on countries including Myanmar, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Laos and South Africa.

    Math jokes:

Seems about right. A bunch of random variance added to the previous tariffs based on that hilarious formula.

Market has also run for the last 5-6 weeks to all time highs. Need breathers like today. Earnings season starts early August which will tell more about the direction of this market than tariff talk.
