Yep there are a few on the right but the left this is pretty common. Many literally can't control themselves if someone with a Trump hat walks into a business or if someone puts a Trump sign up in their neighborhood.

I am basically agreeing with you. I am saying that Christians that do that arent following Jesus. Jesus never said "oh the twin towers fell, I bet its because they were bad" .

Jesus would have been a first responder.
Jesus would have loved the hurting.
Jesus would have fed the people displaced.

I'll save the judging for God and follow the actions of His son.

Don't get salty because you are stuck on your self made island. Literally no one is agreeing with you. You went to far. Own it and move on.

I don't post here for "agrees", and couldn't honestly care less. I'm well aware that the truth hurts sometimes.

I don't post for agrees either, but the nature here is that people impulse click for the side they agree with and your lack of any support in your position in this thread, shows that no one thinks your "truth" is true.

Who cares... I don't. I don't need the external belief reinforcement as bad you do, I guess.

I agree you don’t care about others thoughts or feelings…in this thread you’ve given ample evidence you don’t care about millions of people.
    Sad.

He might have a point. There is a cycling montage of group photos on their website and literally not one kid that looks remotely close to black, Asian, or Hispanic in the whole thing. Weird.

I don't mind this person being fired for crassly politicizing a tragedy.

But I find it amusing to see how much this bothers Trump supporters, considering that they not only turned a blind eye to the same, they literally cast a presidential vote for someone who did the exact same thing.

There was one prominent person seizing on the misinformation for his own purposes: Donald Trump. As a candidate, Trump leveled the baseless accusation that the Biden administration was diverting FEMA assistance from North Carolina to house illegal immigrants. He claimed $1 billion of FEMA spending was “stolen” for migrants. He said all FEMA had to offer people in North Carolina was $750, which was not true.

I haven’t been on Too Hot for some months now, but felt compelled for some reason to check in and see what might be said about the floods. Even then I wasn’t going to comment until I saw your post.

I see your questions being sincere and so I’d like to offer some thoughts. They are very fair and important questions.

There are some Christians who believe that God determines everything that happens, and therefore would have determined this flood to happen. They believe things do not happen haphazardly or randomly, but that everything fits into God‘s specific plan. I have friends with this outlook who take great comfort in knowing that everything that happens to them, even negative things, has a purpose.

My theological viewpoint is different from that. I believe that God created a world that follows natural laws that he created. Bad things happen because we live in a fallen world, and it is fallen as a result of sin. The fallenness affects not just moral aspects but also natural events. These negative events, whether natural or moral, will affect believers and non-believers alike.

Jesus does not promise that believers will never suffer bad times. In fact, Jesus said, “I’ve said these things to you so that you will have peace in me. In the world you have distress. But be encouraged! I have conquered the world (John‬ ‭16‬:‭33‬ ‭CEB‬‬).”

Jesus says that no matter what events or conditions we have to endure, that he is with us in that time. “After all, he has said, ‘I will never leave you or abandon you’ (Hebrews‬ ‭13‬:‭5‬c ‭CEB‬‬, quoting Deuteronomy‬ ‭31‬:‭6‬).”

The scripture assures us that “We know that God works all things together for good for the ones who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose (Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭28‬ ‭CEB‬‬).” This does not mean that all things that happen to us are good. It means that through the hard times God is there beside us and he will work something to our benefit according to his will. I will freely admit that there are times that I don’t see what good can come out of something. But I am not omniscient.

Regarding the efficacy of prayer, a lot of Christians believe that the purpose of prayer is to strengthen our own faith. It does do that. However, I also believe the prayer can affect outcomes. How this actually happens I don’t know. I believe the scripture teaches that there are times when our efforts can affect God‘s actions.

Someone in this thread posted a link to a thread on the TexAgs website with updates regarding the flood. I’ve read the entire thread, every single post. On the one hand, it is heartbreaking as people talk about looking for their loved ones or the loved ones of friends. At the same time, it is enormously encouraging how these peoples’ faith is providing them strength and hope. One man in particular is still looking for his granddaughter. He talks about the overwhelming, supernatural sense of peace that he has even in this time. This is what our faith provides.

Sorry to be a little longwinded on this. I hope it provides some insights, at least for my perspective.

Should such behavior be encouraged or called out for the nonsense that it is?
