Let’s see how the MAGAs who were just glazing and praising Musk a few months ago feel about this.

If he’s coming in to the right of Trump it’s out of spite and won’t accomplish much other than to push the party further right. Which doesn’t help anyone.
If it’s a centrist party no one in the center trust musk so it’s wasted energy.

either way, unlimited funds or not, I don’t see this going very far. He could still pull off a miracle or two, but the bloom is off his rose; he’s alienated almost everyone.

Smart strategy. He’s not out to win elections. A third party could be very effective w/o ever winning an election.

If they were smart they’d target about 8-10 purple congressional districts and then they’d essentially control the House.

Love it. If he steals 5% or 10% of the Republican vote, we are likely looking at a Dem supermajority….

Ha, he ain’t your friend WDG. He’s a spoiled brat just toying with worldly matters.

Just like he had a Kardashian Level split with his most recent boyfriend, he’ll flip on a second based on whatever that drug he is fueled by tells him today.

He has zero foundation other than $$$$$

I predicted a billionaire-created 3rd party decades ago when I was 18. In 2021 and 2022 I said the billionaire would be Elon Musk. I mentioned what would happen 3 days ago.

Click on my post from July 2 above and see how closely it matches what Elon Musk posted today:

As I said in 2021 on Twitter:

    As I said in 2022:

As I first said when I was 18 years old, America must adopt Milton Friedman-style solutions for healthcare, relax/end occupational licensure per Milton Friedman, give accreditation to more online education providers so people can be educated almost for free

I'd prefer that Elon work within the Republican party and that may happen. But the formation of a 3rd party by a Elon billionaire was what I saw happening when I was 18-23. Everyone thought I was crazy but here we are.

My genius is now apparent to all :)

I love it. Have wanted an alternative for years.

Looks like the libbies here have a bigger problem with this than the MAGAs so far. Who’da thunk it???

I am confused. Are you talking about Trump or Musk? It’s easy to confuse the two when you say spoiled brat with money!

Eh, maybe. He was “left” not that long ago. Then went Full WTF when he sniffed the fumes.

He is basically an unserious person who has power because he could buy it. Lefties don’t fall in line, they form a thousand self-defeating tribes.

If he is trying to form a party out of the 3-5% who aren’t irrationally pledged to a letter then this is doubling down on the stupid he demonstrated by becoming involved in the first place.

This was always a math problem. We live in a fake democracy as I said years ago. The US now resembles the USSR as I've stated repeatedly for years. Elon recognizes this is the case.

Elon recognizes that Milton Friedman type solutions are mandatory.

A billionaire was bound to come along and form a 3rd party or else the Republican party would have to be radically reformed. In 2021 and 2022 I said the billionaire would be Elon Musk.

Elon's vision imo: JD Vance will be elected president and either the America party or a radically transformed Republican party will vote as a block so the Vance-Musk partnership has the power of a monarch to get stuff done. There is no other way.

Those that don't vote as a block must be executed. This is absolutely necessary

Trump has been mostly consistent since his POTUS runs bombed in the 80’s.

He has not really “lied” to us for 30 years. He has been this person for decades.

Musk is a rudderless drug addict that just got donkey-punched by the most obvious donkey puncher ever.

But he can afford to be an idiot forever. Basically a more accomplished Paris Hilton.

Good grief one of the posters on this thread is nauseatingly arrogant. I won’t name him directly but I BET most can figure it out or won’t give a ..
    Now on to Musk.
We need a third party. Desperately. The two we have now do not care about Americans. They care about their own money and power. It’s been that way for quite sometime.
Give us a third party to upset the balance of things , to eat into the money and power consolidated by the old guard politicians who cannot get off the Americans teet.
Elon is t the man to do it. He may be the MONEY though. Can he bring together centrist from both sides. Romney, Kasich, Haley, etc.. form a small but visible and powerful group to lead from the center? It will take at least a decade. Positioning these individual in races they can win, races with meaning and slowly building to the WH.
    Maybe.. but doubtful.

I think this demonstrates the problem with centrism in practice as a philisophy. "Centrists from both sides" are literally all from one "side" on that list. And, not coincidentally, the side that you identify with more.

I suspect the goal isn't truly centrism more than it is Republicanism that doesn't embarrass you. Because Democrats have been running people from their centrist wing for pretty much the entirety of this century (with the possible exception of 2008).
