ICE increasingly targets undocumented migrants with no criminal record
The Trump administration is increasingly targeting unauthorized immigrants with no criminal record as it ramps up arrests, a Washington Post analysis of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement data shows.

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi L. Noem often touts that ICE officers are arresting the “worst of the worst.” But more than half of those removed from the country since Jan. 20 do not have a criminal conviction. What’s more, as arrests increase, the share of detained migrants with a criminal conviction has been dropping.
It shouldn't be all that surprising. When he ran the first time focusing on Mexico at the time Trump floated the narrative that Mexico "was sending" criminals to the US. He is floating a similar narrative now focusing on Venezuela along with the implying that a significant percentage of undocumented immigrants are violent criminals and that ICE is targeting those illegals. The reality is that immigrants both legal and undocumented are less likely to commit violent crimes than US citizens by birth and that in order to achieve his deportation goal iCE will be detaining more and more noncriminal immigrants. This graph says it all the percentage of noncriminal aliens will be increasing over time. It also wouldn't surprise if some of the noncriminal aliens end up at "Alligator Alcatraz" and will certainly end up at the newly opened or expanded private facilities.

The proportion of detainees with a criminal conviction has fallen in recent months, the data shows. In January, nearly 46 percent of those detained had been convicted of a crime. By June, that number had dropped to 30 percent.

Something has to be done to up the numbers and justify that huge bump in the ICE budget.

According to one commentator the ICE budget under the "Big Beautiful Bill" is larger than the military budgets of a number of countries. The ICE budget will also be larger than that of any other federal law enforcement agency including the FBI and the DEA and will end up funding more ICE agents than agents or officers in any other federal law enforcement agency. In essence the Administration had determined that apprehending and deporting undocumented immigrants the majority of whom haven't been convicted of or even charged with crimes should take precedence over the investigation of organized crime, counter-terrorism or drug trafficking.

It's fun to see the performative theater play out.

Pretend to get lots of criminals, make a show of getting some others, leave almost the same number of illegal immigrants in the country after four years as there were at the start.

Heck, he's already basically admitted as much when he told us farm and hospitality workers could stay.

But hey look! There's a new place in Florida that house 3,000 (lol) people and has an aggressive sounding name!!

Imagine actually falling for this laughable BS from a con man.

It's budget is higher than the FBI's? Insanity. Good news for non-immigrant criminals, I guess.

The average annual ICE budget over the next 5 years will be approximately $30 billion compared with slightly over 10 billion for the FBI.
ICE Budget Now Bigger Than Most of the World's Militaries
ICE’s $175 billion windfall: Trump’s mass deportation force set to receive military-level funding
The budget for ICE’s enforcement will likely be allocated in large part to hiring new ICE agents, the often-masked agents who abduct people from American streets and courthouses. The new $30 billion ICE budget, more than three times the previous budget, would provide for the hiring of some 10,000 ICE agents, who would receive a $10,000 bonus, per the White House. For comparison, the FBI’s budget in fiscal year 2025 was just $11 billion.

So in say 10 months with the huge influx of ICE agents having done God's work , and vast numbers of the immigrants deported thus ending this horrific invasion and making everyone's pets safe once again, will ICE be strolling the streets with like a color wheel of skin tones to abduct people off the street?

Pretty sure they'll be policing elections. Gettin' rid of all that pervasive election fraud we saw didn't see in the 2020 election.

If not this, they'll be doing some other pro-Trump activities which will be an abuse of their authority, funding and mandate ..... and will likely be illegal.

Trumppublican congressmen and officials won't care - they'll turn a blind eye.

MAGA voters won't care either - they have already repeatedly turned a blind eye to Trump's lack of ethics and outright criminality. (Although they might chime in on some other topics n stuff, cuz they do still have a lot personal integrity and the like.)

I hear the sounds of falling footwear.

"President Trump’s budget bill will codify much of his immigration agenda, drastically changing the landscape of enforcement and detention. Significantly, the bill funds a giant immigration detention apparatus that would likely be difficult to dismantle under future presidents. This new money comes as the administration is thwarting attempts at congressional oversight of detention conditions — and alongside new levels of cruelty directed at undocumented immigrants."

"The legislation makes U.S Immigration and Customs and Enforcement the largest federal law enforcement agency, giving it $45 billion for building new detention centers in addition to $14 billion for deportation operations. It also includes $3.5 billion for reimbursements to state and local governments for costs related to immigration-related enforcement and detention."

"The bill funds an expansion to approximately double immigrant detention capacity, from about 56,000 detention beds to potentially more than 100,000. Private prison firms — many of which were significant financial supporters of GOP candidates for Congress as well as the president’s election campaign — will reap major financial benefits from this spending, as nearly 90 percent of people in ICE custody are currently held in facilities run by for-profit firms."

"In May, the CEO of private prison company CoreCivic told investors, “Never in our 42-year company history have we had so much activity and demand for our services as we are seeing right now.” This budget bill will solidify that vision for CoreCivic, GEO Group, and other firms that manage and own immigrant detention centers and transportation subsidiaries."

Budget Bill Massively Increases Funding for Immigration Detention

It demonstrates that for the private prison industry donations to the Trump campaign and Republican candidates were a very positive return on investment. It should also be obvious that since the goal of the industry is to maximize profits there is absolutely no incentive for them to provide decent conditions for detainees the majority of which have committed no real crimes.

Not there ever has been any doubt as to where he stands, Trump's priorities became really obvious when DOJ attorneys who would normally investigate and prosecute corruption were reassigned from the Department's Public Integrity Section to the prosecution of immigration cases.
Justice Department office that prosecutes public corruption slashed in size, sources say
The Trump administration is gutting the Justice Department's unit that oversees prosecutions of public officials accused of corruption, three sources who spoke on condition of anonymity told NBC News.

The unit, the Public Integrity Section, has overseen some of the country’s most high-profile and sensitive prosecutions. Now, though, only a small fraction of its employees will remain, and the unit will no longer directly handle investigations or prosecutions, two sources said.

So the Iranian woman who fled the Islamic regime, has been in the US for 47 years, is married to a US citizen and has a US citizen daughter should be treated no differently than an MS-13 gang member was committed multiple murders?
