Easy - politicians find it is beneficial to spend money to gain power. News at 11:00 - the sky is blue.
It's going to be devastating to the economy if we throw out all the low-paid immigrant workers: agriculture, construction, food factories, etc. No one else wants to work those jobs. It will take a lot of money to persuade fat-ass Americans to get on a roof and replace it in summertime, or pick fruit in the heat, or cut up chickens for packaging in a factory. Net result of all these additional costs? Inflation. Now a question for you--how much annual inflation is the right amount? 8%? 10%?
Hasn’t Trump adjusted his deportation plans to support the lower wage jobs? as for inflation, anything under 3%
ICE's next budget will be $170 billion. Last year's ICE budget was roughly $8.7 billion. So, a difference of about $161 billion.. The number of detainees this year, so far, is 56,000. So-- and please feel free to check my math on this-- that's in the neighborhood of $2,857,142.86 per detainee. If ever an operation smelled like corruption in the making this is it. ICE isn't being held to the same rigorous standards of efficiency as other federal departments. We're gutting education and healthcare to detain and deport immigrants. This is not a good choice, IMO.
Trying to understand here…the current budget is $8B and so far they have detained 56k. How do you get $2.8M per detainee? And since there’s such a backlog, we would certainly want enough money for way more than that.
It seems I confused the year with the budget. Anyway, a 20 fold increase from one year to another. Too much. Just my opinion. I'd spend the money on education, health care, and police departments.
Sounds like there are going to be a lot of deportations. An iron wall of sorts built along the border.
I wonder how much President Obama, nicknamed the “Deporter in Chief”, spent deporting the over 3 million illegals during his two terms in office?
I think it appears that Trump's Deficit-Funded Tax Cut Bill allocates $80 billion/year to ICE. So if that nets 1,000,000 people removed per year, which is obviously a totally absurd Steven Miller wetdream fantasy, that's $80,000 per illegal immigrant removed. Since it will undoubtedly be fewer people, it will have a much higher cost per capita. Good thing DOGE didn't catch wind of this nonsense, rite?
Hey, don't we have some type of department of government efficiency or something that could have given some spreadsheet savings off this spending bill. I mean, what else are they doing?
