I could not agree more. Most folks don’t even know that most Medicaid clinics work on encounter fees rather than procedure fees. What that means is that you go in 10 times to do procedures a normal office might do in one if you get an appointment at all.

That’s the literal definition of “ensure.”
The literal definition of “insure” is to provide or obtain an insurance policy.

interesting stances from someone who leans right.

While I’m not sure about “poisonous” I’m inclined to agree I’d prefer a European food regulation model. However I’m not sure that Europe produces anywhere near the level of food we do. In terms of Monsanto - presumably Roundup - if that were banned it may very well be that overall food output/productivity would go down, and/or other potentially more toxic pesticides would be used instead. Organic sounds great but if the entire food supply went organic the output would be significantly less.

Drugs are one thing. Allowing federal government to negotiate prices - along with ability to choose not to include in plans, could make a difference. It is in a way kind of price setting, but with insurance subsidies and patent monopolies it isn’t a typical free market model.

As to medical procedures, just capping prices likely only eventually leads to supply shortages. There are lots of underlying cost issues that have to be addressed.

Well somebody has to pay for it. There are European countries that the state pays for the education so debt is eliminated, but doctors don’t make as much. That would be a huge change in mindset for us.

Again, price caps without addressing cost issues won’t fix the problem.

On the one hand buying out the competition can drive up prices. At the same time, consolidation can lead to more efficiency and a broader network. How that sorts out on balance I’m really not sure.

Two entities with far too much power in government. The CBO and the Senate Parliamentarian.

Monsanto has basically created a monopoly on seed. Even suing a farmers for discovered growth on their property when seed accidentally blows into their field.

They bullied farmers into using their product.
Which is nothing but nutritionless GMO filled products. They have had major lawsuits in many countries, sparking protests and pushback from farmers being bullied into using their unhealthy products.

Obama put a former Monsanto boss *and top lobbyist* in charge of policy at the FDA. An act that borderlines on criminal in my opinion.

Here they have massive staff shortages and are wildly inefficient. What were once several good hospitals now suffer from mass resignations and huge staffing issues (based on treatment and overworking them).

Anecdotally, it has been a disaster.
People will often travel to Duke of Chapel Hill to avoid the local hospitals.

penny wise, pound foolish? How much does it cost society in general if millions have zero health coverage? ( hint: not free).

Not many. You've been lied to again by your political leaders. Don't you dislike and get tired of that, of being lied to?

Fact check: Are there 1.4 million illegal immigrants on Medicaid? | NewsNation

The nearly 1,000-page megabill outlines the removal of “at least 1.4 million” immigrants who are in the United States unlawfully from Medicaid, the administration said.

    Also;

    Can illegal immigrants join Medicaid
    ?

No, immigrants who have entered and remained in the U.S. illegally are not eligible for Medicaid.

Although they might benefit from some of its services — including emergency care — they aren’t eligible for federally funded Medicaid coverage.

Just the logical conclusion of the idea that "the best" must be the most highly compensated.

    Nutritionless GMO filled products”.

Is there any evidence GMO based seeds are nutrition-less? I don’t think that’s true at all, and it doesn’t even make sense as a hypothesis considering the basis to do that at all is to INCREASE crop yields. Why would a farmer want to plant something with less yield or less desirable nutritional value? Sounds to me you are running with a narrative here. You’ve decided you don’t like GMO’s, so instead of recognizing the trade-offs you took the maximalist (untrue) position.

The idea of suing farmers because a GMO based seed accidentally mixed in and took over their crop is indeed crazy. Although I’d wonder if you could produce a single example of that actually happening (an “accidental” victim rather than someone who just bought the “improved” seeds on the sly). I wonder how vigorously they do this IP defense of seeds at all anymore or if this was a topic that peaked 20 years ago?

We agree on Novant and the consolidation of providers in health care. I thought it would be far worse in dentistry by now. And there is no doubt that the corporates are working their way in. But we are just enough on the outside that they have not gone full out to take it over in dentistry though the DSOs are there for sure. I also think the fact we have more interactions with the patient helps. You come for an hour and you are with someone pretty much the whole time so that relationship matters. And want to know a funny thing about insurance and the corporate providers in dentistry. We use to contract with Metlife years ago. Metlife would pay the corporate Christie Dental down the street up to twice as much as they would pay us on certain procedures for in-network members. On average was probably 1.5 times. Why? Because they could negotiate with more locations. It was great ending that relationship as Metlife's rep would tell me they do not negotiate. And I would tell her yes you do because you are paying the corporate practice down the street more than you pay us.

We could sell our practice for probably 6-12 times EBITDA if we wanted to right now to a corporate outfit. But no way would we or will we do that. For a few reasons.

But most families absolutely prioritize things over their health care. That is just reality. Whether it is eating out/clothes/shoes/etc. And there is nothing wrong with that.

And we should have "insurance". Not a third party middleman that inflates the price with fellow corporate outfits. Insurance would be much more affordable if we sold actual "insurance". Your family would be covered and the power for care would be shifted back towards the doctor and patient. Rather than the admins and ceo's...

Actually a $20 bill will help you buy things. The things you find important and desire.

Monday I sent just under 400 of them to Florida Blue for the month of July to pay for the insurance of our family and employees. As we find that important.
