He's been on this soapbox since Obamacare, its best not to encourage him. He might start talking about how it would be nice to be able to barter chickens or exchange lawnmowing for healthcare or something.

Again, you are off on a tangent. Nobody said that insurance companies are there to tell you the price. They are there to negotiate the price. Because, it turns out that they are far more price sensitive about what a heart surgery should cost than the spouse of the person receiving it. They are also far more price sensitive as to what a visit to a cardiologist office visit should cost than a scared family member.

BS...they want as much confusion in the pricing as possible. They have very good actuaries that are able to manipulate and make huge profits.

That said...all day. Go to the corporate providers. I do not view them as even in the same industry. While sure. They are in dental/medical. Their vision and mission is completely different. And there is a good chance you will spend a lot more money for less service using them. But I get it. They are very good at selling...

If only that is what health insurance is. Unfortunately it is anything but that now.

Ok. I dont think private health insurance is great, but you are against a Medicare 4 All/Single Payor type system too. All I've seen you ever propose is magical thinking or cockamamie ideas.

I think it is easy to get wrapped up in an ideology and not stop to remember that these are not statistics, numbers, demographics; they are people. We can disagree about how to best "provide for the general welfare", but if your solution is not one you can adequately explain to a family face-to-face without adequate means, then you need to reassess your position. I mean a sociopath would have no issues with that, but I assume most here are not. I do however agree there does need to be changes to entitlements as they take up about half the budget.

No one is taking away anyone's healthcare. But we should absolutely let people decide what is important to them. Sometimes it takes not caring about one's healthcare to learn and change. That does not make someone wrong for choosing not to focus on their health.

We could do so much for healthcare if we worked towards a more market based system and gave the power back to the patient and doctor. But as we see here...a lot of you want big business to run your healthcare.

This bill absolutely will take away people's healthcare - that's quite literally what the thread is about. You can choose not to care if you value tax cuts for the wealthy over healthcare for millions of people, but "no one will be affected" is not one of the outcomes.

Their mission is your mission: make money. You already pointed out that is what you want from your patients.

And the advantage to confusion on pricing for insurance is by keeping a larger chunk of the savings. If they don't save anything, they don't make profit, which same as both you and corporate providers, is their mission too.

suck it up butter cup, can't afford insurance on the private market?: get another job, or go without and risk going bankrupt next time you get sick. The GOP is all about this. Gotta pay big insurance so they can bankroll gop politcians and get bigger yachts,

That care isn't affordable because of the beast it has become. Taking the ability to pay is akin to taking away care.

I was at a traffic light so didnt have time for a longer response....

Now that i'm at home, your answer is based on the assumption that I was asking about cost. This poll is about number of people losing healthcare so I was asking about what that number included not about the cost.

As I suspected and was why I was asking for the actual dollars but it was confirmned by Lindsey Grahm. The total dollars for Medicade will INCREASE in this budget compared to last year, they just will only go up 4% instead of the 5.8% that they had been growing the last several years. So anyone who received Medicaid can receive the same dollars + 4% this next year. You don't have to throw 11.8 million people off the plan.
