Im for a new one elsewhere and not eliminating any home games. Make a throwback replica with modern amenities and all the seats. The only problem with that is it is very expensive to copy old architecture.

We stand anyway so tge seats are tge least of the issues. Bathrooms and food are terrible though. I wouldnt really mind if we had to pee in a trough in public but tgere is literally nothing worth eating fot tgat entire four hours. At a good hot day game the first of the year, that tunnel is so hot and crowded that i have almost just pulled it out and let it go. 30 mins in an oven while i hold it it is crazy. Almost in my gatorade in my seat.

    My solution? Drink more bourbon.

You just won't care if you pee in your pants or not...

I am guessing with NIL they are going to have to raise prices and it will price the average joe of of attending a game so losing 10,000 seats won’t matter

And then put a large amount of money in a designated account for the lawsuits.

I think there is a serious misconception about what can be done and should be done.
    1. Stadiums that have multi uses like Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta are worth the $.
    2. A stadium that will be used 6 or ,7 times a year doesn't justify the stratospheric pricetag.
    3. I think whatever we get will have fewer seats..not more.
    4. The university golf course will move off campus..so we can have a terrific college course. The space where the current course will be open
    No micanopy. Jmho.
4.any serious renovations would entail an extensive demolition that would be prohibitive.
    5. Don't expect a state of the art dining experience like Mercedes Benz Atlanta. Ain't happening. Nil Sucks a lot of $ out of funds available. Bama built 100000 seat stadium. We ain't going there. Nothing else to do in Tuscaloosa.
We will see but expectations are misplacedimhfo.

I did get trapped in the odome bathroom in need of new shorts with very little cell service at the Tennessee game a couple years ago. My girl had to get a lady to open the clothes store at the stadium early to get them for me and a guy to bring them in looking for me. Damn food truck.

You mean it will cost $1 billion to do all the needed upgrades and keep the seating capacity? That would require enlarging the stadium to make room for the bigger seats. I wish that was the plan.

You can bet that money is coming from somewhere and you are right the UAA certainly doesn't want to foot the bill out of its TV revenues....they will go after other sources.

UAA is self-insured and has sovereign immunity. That solves a large part of the problem. However, if they don't monkey with the seating then they don't have to bring it up to the current code.

That's what I heard too. A billion dollars is one heck of a Renovation, even with today's prices. I suspect they tear it all out or down to the shell. I like the idea of keeping the stadium where it is for traditional reasons.

I am resigned to the fact that it is inevitable that capacity would go down.

I know that many think not messing with Alligator Alley / Historical Building etc. make it impossible to radically effect the East stands but I disagree with that, sky boxes and an expanded upper deck would be possible, just like the West side, it's all a matter or architectural design and money of course. There are examples of sky towers being built OVER existing buildings (churches) in NYC and London. It would not be impossible but it would be costly.

But at the end of the day, I suspect the planners are not much interested in expanding capacity like Rick hopes, for numerous reasons: Economic Projections, Demographics, Cost, Time of Construction, and on and on, I think the planners are not particularly interested in lower end ticket prices to accommodate fannies in seats for the less financially astute fan base.

On the enlarging issue…Rick I don’t see that is possible. East side enlargement means going up and all the substructure would encroach on old ALLIGATOR ALLEY which is, I believe, an historic landmark. The money to do this no ,after what, as Bill said, could be a billion $. Is that worth it for a building that is used, and measured in hours..HOURS…it is a bad deal. Jacking up prices? There is a winner. (Not). We have driven so many legacy students away, now we can finish off this catastrophe by raising prices on tickets, matching the ultra raising of weekend hotel rates, etc. to even more painful levels.
Again..we ain’t Tuscaloosa. Florida residents can spend their discretionary income a million ways. Taking in a Gator game is supposed to be a fun experience not a death match.
    Jmhfo.

The number of seats is a calculation in the accessibility code and they would have to be spread around the stadium. The railings are a Chapter 10 FBC and life safety requirement which is means of egress not ADA. Scott Strychnine is not fully correct, he needs better / more information.
