So i suggest not seeing it as me clinging to my former tribe.

My former tribe has things that i 100% agree with. But It Isn't because the tribe supports them.

I support issues on their own merit. What I believe is true and right. I do that regardless of what "tribe" that issue is assigned to by our all or nothing culture.

I support school lunches and health care reform. I want stricter gun laws. I have a Reaganesque view on immigration. I thought mask mandates were ok. Those things are generally attached to the liberal "tribe" these days.

I am anti abortion, pro school choice, anti vax mandates. Those things are generally attached to a conservative "tribe" these days

My positions arent really tribal at all.

But the Christo Fascists don't like that and don't bother to differentiate between different sets of parents. In their world All Gay Parents < All Straight Parents (whether alcoholics, drug addicts, abusers, etc.). Seriously. Push them. Ultimately they'll side with the failed straight parents or foster homes over two gay accountants. . . Every time!!!

I think YOU consistently defend MAGA on pretty much everything. What really interests me is why you feel the need to keep distance (at least rhetorically)? Maybe I missed it, but I've never seen you be critical of Trump or MAGA while consistently jumping in to defend their side. IDK, If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck. . .

"Broad strokes" then calls me "left". Sure dude, whatever you say. I'll give Tilly some credit. He's come around. But that ^ tells me everything I need to know about where this conversation is heading.

    We're done.

    Bye Bye Now!!!

Again, i am honestly asking how did I go along? I have been very outspoken against Jan 6th. Anyone who has been here long enough remembers my consta montra of impeach Trump and hand the keys to Pence, the same Pence they chanted to lynch on Jan 6.

Again, what should I be doing that I am not doing?

Wow you guys are really in the weeds from the discussion of who adopts the most kids. Its conservatives. It is proven by data. The end.

The tripe about not caring for life after birth is disproven by actual data.

So instead of facing that fact, people are talking about weather some christians may not think gay people are better parents than drug addicts?

This place is so weird some days lol

You're a good person and I have the upmost respect for you because you actually do think for yourself on these things. And I get it. The thought of Harris winning made me almost as queasy as Trump. Oh, and i was so sold on Haley too. Dammit. Should have just remained detached, but I let myself think it was possible.

I still maintain she gets nearly 100% of I's and maybe as many as 20% of Ds given the dissatisfaction with Biden. Polls in spring were showing 15% over Biden and double digits over every other D nominee. That's Reagan '84.

False. You equated religious with conservative. You showed zero data on adoption by political ideology only by religious affiliation. And that is before we get into the fact that your argument relies on the notion that the way to care about somebody is adopting them, which is, itself, nonsense.

I agree. I was DeSantis pretty heavy as many here remember. I swore he would beat trump as @dangolegators has reminded me. ;)

    I was way off.

I grew to be a big fan of Haley and still am actually. I know that the far leftists here will demonize her because she agreed to work with Trump, but they tend to do that to women that don't toe their line.

She would be 1000x better than any recent potus in my book

Over 74 million people voted for Trump in 2020 .... and you define those people by the actions of several thousand on 1/6/21. What you don't understand and will never understand .... is the fact many/most of the folks you and your liberal buds define as MAGA are simply anti-progressivism.

1.The way to save kids from abortion is adoption. It is far from nonsense and I never said it was the only way.

    2. The religious affiliation demo is plenty proof as the highest numbers are among evangelicals which all the liberals around here love yo rail on for being so conservative.

The floor is yours. Show me where liberals are more involved.

I showed you where even the welfare argument falls short as the two sides are very close statistically in that regard too

Pro-lifers care after birth too and you are way to smart of a poster to support that lame attempt to shit down the conversation.

Then they should not have picked a liberal in sheeps clothing. Trump doesnt care about our values. He saw it as his meal ticket and capitalized.

Haley would have mopped the floor with Biden or Harris and Romney would have crushed Hillary.

There are certainly posters here who defend everything about their side no matter what. IMHO, Tilly and Ridge are not among them.

If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck. . . .

And you describe exactly why I hate them. Intellectual bankruptcy and political myopia. These people think the Ds are the greatest threat on earth, more than our actual enemies. They put their domestic pissing contests ahead of actual health of the nation. Which probably explains their Noam Chomsky takes on Ukraine/Russia (America/NATO bad). They even parrot the exact same rhetoric. "No forever wars". . . . Right from the mouths of open communists to the lips of MAGA and MTG.

In my book, that's a traitor. No principals beyond "I hate those guys!!!!".

It is not the only way. Your first sentence contradicts your second sentence.

That is not "proof." What is more: you actually know that it isn't. Which is why you have structured this argument in the way that you did. Your evidence is apparently a characterization that you are disputing (e.g., that evangelical=conservative, in which you rely on perceptions that you won't claim but pawn off on others).

First, a very subtle shift there, where you can't prove something and now want me to prove something to you. But I doubt you would accept evidence nearly as weak as the evidence that you provided.

But I am happy to help you out: social workers lean heavily liberal, especially those that deal primarily with children. Heck, one of the core arguments of conservatives is that teachers can't be trusted because they are liberal.

Now, let's consider the implications of the actions of Republicans during this administration. For example, the cuts to USAID will lead to deaths of children. Cuts to research on things like childhood cancer will lead to the deaths of children.

You are way too smart to pass off nonsense like equating religious to politically conservative. Frankly, the notion is downright offensive, even if it is convenient for you in this context and helping you feel better about those with whom you still identify. If you want to make a point, make it better than you did. If you want to say that conservatives adopt more children, show data showing political conservatives, not some other group, adopt more children. Or else, I guess I could just say that younger people adopt more children and lean left and have it be proof that the left cares more about children.

    Just think about it.
    1. Secure border without theatrics.
    2. No stupid, antiquated tariff policy.
    3. A continuation of the greatest expansion of American manufacturing since WWII (yes, that was happening, but stopped after the tariffs).
    4. Come in hot on Mexico, but get something meaningful out of it. Like a comprehensive immigration policy that sees them man their damn border instead of trying to stop everything at the mouth of the river (US border). Two secure borders > One.
    5. I think Iran probably happens, but better, more professionally and without the goofy theatrics (Pete "I'll shoot them in the knees!" Hegseth).

Almost every issue would be handled better and with real policy that sticks. Economy would be roaring. And with DeSantis (I always wanted a combined ticket), you still get your "woke" stuff.

The reality is "they" got rused and just can't admit it. . . . yet. Although "some" will never let go of the bone.
