Surprised there hasn't been a thread on this already. It seems it is moving along pretty quickly. According to reports I saw, it should be ready by next week. It even comes with a run way so planes can come and go rather easily.

Government 'FEMA camps' are good and not scary to conservatives if they are for the right people I guess

During their stay, have the deportees round up Burmese Pythons. Pay them $10 a snake and reward the top wranglers with a green card and job with the State.

They want to privatize and sell off the parks anyway.

I thought I saw where the pushback on that proposal caused them to have to remove the language to allow the sale of public lands in the budget? Creeps

It’s actually tribal land seized because DeSantis claimed emergency powers due to immigration. There’s no infrastructure out there and not really easy to get to.

Funny that FEMA has no money for western NC but can pony up millions for this.

I have no doubt that there are folks on this board that would find someone getting killed by an alligator or python very entertaining.

Do you have a link to this? I read where there was already an airstrip there. This is even more crazy

This land is actually owned by Miami-Dade County. It is 39 or so square miles with an existing 10,500 foot runway. Gov is taking over from the County using emergency powers.

RE the assertion the at issue land is “tribal land” stolen by DeSantis ….. I thought all land in North America was “tribal land” stolen from Native American peoples.
