    Meanwhile....

Layoffs From Trump Tariffs Ripple Across the Auto-Parts Industry

Tariff-related layoffs hit five US auto plants that supply factories in Canada and Mexico

And that is just one industry...

And expect the cost average cost of GE washers and dryers to increase by around $200. By the way we bought a GE washer made in Louisville over a year ago. We also paid through the nose. It was among the more expensive GE washers and didn't have a lot of bells and whistles. It was however commercial grade and did have a much longer warranty than most other GE washers.

We’ll see. Dear Leader has only been in office 5 months. imo still too early to see full impacts of his tariffs and wrecking much of the gov. Not to mention the BBB which will add to our deficit.

Uh oh....the OP's victory lap may have come just a little bit too soon....

Deep inside U.S. economy, more sticker prices start going up due to tariffs, and inventory is headed down

My daughter, who just started there in Cincinnati, is a little freaked out, as is—so she says—everyone she knows who works there. Apparently they are announcing more details in September

Proctor and Gamble just let go 250 people here in N Carolina, so at least 250 are in the United States.

Not "wild" speculation. A reasonable projection based on history. Let's not forget the impact of Trump's tariffs on washers and dryers in his first administration.
The Impact of U.S. Trade Policy on South Korea - Korea Economic Institute of America
For example, U.S. tariffs on washing machine imports in 2018 resulted in a 12 percent increase in the price of washing machines in the United States, with only a minimal impact on employment.

    https://pubs.aeaweb.org/doi/pdfplus/10.1257/aer.20190611
We estimate the price effect of US import restrictions on washers. The
2012 and 2016 antidumping duties against South Korea and China
were accompanied by downward or minor price movements along
with production relocation to other export platform countries. With

the 2018 tariffs, on nearly all source countries, the price of washers
increased nearly 12 percent. Interestingly, the price of dryers—not

subject to tariffs—increased by an equivalent amount. Factoring in
dryer prices and price increases by domestic brands, the 2018 tariffs
on washers imply a tariff elasticity of consumer prices of above one.

PAY NO ATTENTION TO THAT MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN!!! (CNN, I’m looking at you, boy!)

New York CNN — The US stock market on Friday hit an all-time high, its first since mid-February. It marked the culmination of a remarkable recovery on Wall Street since the S&P 500 was flirting with bear market territory in early April.

The S&P 500 gained 0.5%, to close at a record 6,173.07. It marked the first new record high since February 19.

Markets almost didn’t hit that record on Friday — they turned south in the late afternoon after President Donald Trump said the United States is ending trade talks with Canada because of a new digital services tax America’s northern neighbor imposed on companies. Trump said a new tariff on Canada would be announced within a week.

So, we are up roughly 3% since market close the Friday before Inauguration Day. Nothing to brag about, but let us be real. It’s on the ascent as we speak and… if Trump is successful in the cuckening of Jerome Powell, that means interest rates are going to be cut, which will be like pouring an accelerant onto an already roasting fire, as it relates to the markets.

Trump's Big Beautiful Bill will only cost Georgia 42,000 jobs. Not too shabby. Apparently, Georgia is a leading producer of solar panels, EV's, and batteries, but nothing useful like coal or coal furnaces, or coal nutritional supplements popular with the MAGA crowd. West Virginia is looking good, however.

New report shows which state would lose 42,000 jobs if budget bill passes: 'Derail a generational economic transformation'
