You have to admit that you assume the leadership in Tehran is rational. What if they are actually irrational and are wiling to accept the consequence of destroying Israeli if it will bring about the return of the 12 Imam?

I think they've been around too long for that to be the case, too entrenched in power, etc. If they were irrational, we'd see it in other areas. IDK, maybe I'm wrong, but the evidence seems to speak more to a Putin/CCP approach to power than an unhinged, Taliban approach. And the internal struggles are real. One thing the government did prior to the attacks was double down on a dog-walking ban. Apparently the idea of dogs as pets is offensive to Islam (go figure). IMO, that's a cry for help. Dog walking? Really? This is the social crisis of the day in your country?

They have spent that entire time trying to destroy Israel and kill American soldiers. At what point do you start taking them at their word?

Destroy? Or just be a pain in the ass? Again, I think chaos is their goal, not the end of Israel or even the USA. With the chaos being far more attainable than the latter two while providing the illusion (to the Iranian people) that you're dedicated to the cause. Again, maybe I'm overly cynical (shocker!), but power is power and once clowns like this taste power, the piety goes away pretty quick. . . unless it's in service of power.

Iranian Foreign Minister Overloads His Mouth, Again:

Trump Responds to Iranian Foreign Minister's Vow to Develop a Nuclear Weapon

This unpolished turd is writing checks that his ego and Iran cannot cash:

"Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said his country will not abandon its nuclear program and that it must now rethink how to protect its facilities after strikes by Israel and the U.S.," Newsweek reported Wednesday. "The top Iranian diplomat said the attacks will have 'serious and profound effects on the course of the nuclear program,' adding: 'We need to rethink how we protect our nuclear facilities."

    Trump's response:

President Donald Trump responded to Araghchi at the NATO Summit Wednesday, saying the regime won't be "building bombs" anytime soon and that their nuclear sites have been "obliterated."

"They're not going to have a bomb and they're not going to enrich...we won't let that happen, militarily," Trump said. “The last thing they want to do is enrich anything right now, they want to recover.”

That ban made this place slightly more readable….tilly, can we get another short ban in the works?

The Iranian populace and Iranian leadership are too completely different things right now (see the women's protests of the last few years for example).

The leadership is very old and the engaged populace is trending much younger. This moment is a tremendous one for regime change. We (and Israel) can make moves to bring that about peacefully or we can create a new generation of motivated adversaries.

Good point. It will be interesting if youth can manage through a regime change. To a certain degree, they need an authoritarian or central power to create a viable economy over a long period (maybe generations). It doesn’t seem possible to simply replace their theocracy with an American styled democracy. It is unfortunate, but regime change will be replaced with massive corruption and a failed society leading to a civil war.

I love that the MAGA's are so reactionary they "disagree" with this. What? Are you mad that I called the Iranian Mullahs "pedos"?
Thank you! That was very big of you to just come out and admit it like that.

LOL. What you said was so delusional I'm not wasting my time responding to someone who thinks everything Iran has done for the past 40 years is just rhetoric. But, with your posting history, not surprising...
