I was tempted to hit the bacon for the first (intentional) time, just because reflexively, as a married man for 28 years, those words have never been uttered.

My point isn’t the critiques that Trump spoke too soon. It’s the open hope that he was wrong so they can say, “I told you so.”

If the ceasefire didn’t hold, and the nuke destruction job was incomplete, you can make an argument that there is just as much reason for them (or us) to continue bombing

Our president can’t go a single day without mentioning Biden multiple times, and his supporters still invoke his name anytime something goes wrong and doesn’t make Trump look good. Do they all have BDS? See how stupid this whole thing is. If you dare to even criticize the Orange god, you must have Trump Derangement Syndrome because he does everything right. Lol.

"Israel and Iran entered into a shaky ceasefire Tuesday, bringing an uncertain stop to 12 days of fighting. The ceasefire appeared to be in immediate trouble as both sides traded accusations of attacks shortly after acknowledging its start. President Donald Trump, who announced the ceasefire Monday evening, told reporters that both Israel and Iran had violated the agreement — adding that he wasn’t sure they did so intentionally — and warned Israel specifically to stop striking Iran. “BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!” he said in a social media post.

But it’s ok to be in favor of the ceasefire holding so that Trump is right?

If you think a ceasefire is a good thing, then … who cares if Trump is right?!?!

Obviously, if you don’t want a ceasefire to hold (and there’s reasons for that), then you hope he’s wrong.

Maybe some of us think that we should actually be certain that the strikes worked before declaring victory. There are obviously people questioning how successful they really were. Anyone who cared about the real result, and not just parroting whatever a known liar says, would see it that way. Otherwise, we’ll be back to hearing “Iran is just weeks away from having a nuclear weapon” next year….

Questioning the efficacy of the strikes is not only fair game; it’s something the vast majority of us are doing. How do we know and when will we know (if ever), are vital questions. Still, hoping the strikes failed, or hoping a ceasefire fails to take footing, because one doesn’t like Trump, is just bizarre to me.

we could start by putting competent people in positions of leadership, starting at the top..

Trump is more focused on clicks and praise than anything, and of course got his own Mission Accomplished that was so so predictable..

I don’t know if anyone on here is an absolutest when it comes to being pro ceasefire. Go take a look at the Israel strikes Iran thread. In fact I saw little support for a ceasefire UNTIL Trump said something about it. Hmmmn

I don’t think anyone thinks a ceasefire is a bad thing. We would all be better off with peace in the Middle East. It’s the constant contradictory messages and gaslighting that makes some of doubt the veracity of this. It could very well be the equivalent of Covid will be gone in two weeks.

Sure. But no matter how much you despise Trump, he is in power at the top for 3.5 more years. Hating every syllable he says won’t change that dynamic. And, let’s be honest—it’s the never-ending criticism that Trump feeds on, and which seems to make him stronger with his base.

I have been pretty consistent in wanting the US to aide Israel, but to the fullest extent possible, keep our troops out of the direct line of fire. I also think that Israel, having attacked Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, shouldn’t stop until it completed its mission—to ensure Iran does not obtain nuclear weapons. If Israel, with the help of the US bombing run, accomplished that mission, then a ceasefire is VERY welcome. If the mission failed in its objective, then I think a ceasefire was premature.
