To be fair, Trump is open to not having regime change if Ayatollah Khamenei is willing to Make Iran Great Again. (I think it starts with contracting China to make some hats.)

If we were confident they were already trying to build a nuclear weapon, while it may be an interesting thought, there isn’t actually anything you can do about it. “Iran is trying to build an atom bomb. We can’t try to stop them, or else they might build an atom bomb!” doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.
I think he’s speaking more to a visibility issue than anything. I think we’re going to have to trust Israeli intelligence, unfortunately.
Sufficed to say, it would be amazing if a president as dumb and incompetent as Trump was able to somehow make the world a more peaceful place by bombing Iran. If it works, that's great news. I tend to doubt it until I hear Irans' gov't screaming for mercy, however. This was a heavily-fortified target that was bombed through ventilation shafts. My concern would be that only the ventilation shafts were damaged and they could easily be re-built or replaced. It's not like the site was really small and everything was within 20 yards of the ventilation shafts. Our best hope would probably be that there was a massive cave-in, burying the equipment and making the site too dangerous to use again. I would be surprised if we found out one way or the other any time in the near future. The surface pictures did not show any signs of a cave-in.
Every US war or military intervention since WW2 has ended up hurting the political party that initiated it. This probably holds true for other democratic countries. The Bush war on Iraq enjoyed 80-20 support at first before going into steep decline. War with Iran is already very unpopular and will become more so. At first there is the rally around the flag effect, then the costs start adding up and the kinetic action becomes unpopular. War also takes away the public's focus off the party in power's domestic agenda, making it difficult to get legislation passed. How hard will it be for Iran to shut down the Strait of Hormuz? As hard as it is for me to make a pot of coffee. All Iran has to do is announce it will shut the strait down and insurance companies will stop their coverage on oil tankers passing through. The Strait of Hormuz is 35-60 miles wide and can be shut down by deploying mines or by firing missles from the eastern shore controlled by Iran. Iran can keep the Strait of Hormuz open for ships carrying Iranian oil of course. And Iran can now ship energy directly to China by rail, thanks to the Belt and Road program. What happens to the price of a barrel of oil? Top commodity experts expect it to rise by 1/3 to quadrupling. That's quite a range. Imagine the effect on our economy of gas prices from $4.35 to $13/gallon. Evidently the Trump administration didn't think Iran would shut down the Strait of Hormuz, even though that's exactly what they said they would do. So as I said, all Iran has to do is make insurance companies drop coverage on oil tankers. To do that Iran simply has to say, "We are shutting down the Strait of Hormuz." The MAGA populist coalition that got Republicans elected included Muslims in Michigan, Ron Paul libertarians, anti-war Norwegian voters in Wisconsin, as well as anti-war Appalachians in SW Pennsylvania.. MAGA should see a drop in their votes in 2026 and 2028. Mark Levin to my knowledge never won a case in court but he has gotten Trump to do some very stupid things. I heard Trump is saying "Make Iran Great Again." From a political standpoint that is stupid. "Make Israel Great Again" is also a big political loser.

I got the part about Jo and Vegas Fox wrong. I went back and double-checked, and edited my post to be accurate. They don’t agree on this issue. I assumed Jo would have disagreed automatically because that is what Jo does. But no, Jo agrees with Trump on the decision to bomb Iran, which is also a solar eclipse type of event in and of itself.

Trump said George Bush should have been impeached for making statements that helped get the US into the Iraq war. Trump is now heading towards getting impeached, convicted and removed from office.
