In a shutdown right now so no hosting visits this week but sometimes distance makes the heart grow fonder? Haha have heard we are pursuing a few players but we probably won’t hear much this week unless someone commits. Pretty sure we are looking to ideally add one more guard and one more forward!
New associate head coach is Fred Williams. Big relationship coach, former WNBA HC, most recently AHC at Auburn. I think it’s good hire for recruiting and a great hire for player development.
Susie is out. Rhyne is also out, both on good terms, Rhyne is really busy with her own career atm! Can’t blame her
Gatorzone lists only 11 girls on the roster as we head into late June. Is that correct? Not sure it is ever a good idea for a program (especially one that has struggled like UF has) to basically “self impose” penalties on itself by having four open roster spots with less than two months until school starts.
Been my biggest complaint... roster management. Keeping such a small roster is very concerning to me. We are already an injury or two away from flirting with disaster.
Since Amanda was our coach so to me it sounds almost like an admin thing, no way 3 coaches in a row feel the same way about not having more then 10 or 11 ladies on scholly every year
I could see it being either. Kelly learned under Cam so them having a similar philosophy wouldn't shock me. If it is admin then they really need to get it together and give these ladies a better chance at building something. I was curious so quickly glancing back (I may have missed one). The last time we used our full allotment of scholarships was 2008-09... coincidentally one of the best years in program history... go figure. On a side note... the number of impact players who left the program over the years under every coach is astounding. If we could have held onto some of these... Sydney Moss, Eleanna Christinaki, Andrea Vilaro (forgot about her and think she would have developed nicely), Delicia Washington, KK Deans, Lavender Briggs, Bernice Mosby, Rashaya Kyle, Aliyah Matharu... it's sad to think what could have been. Also why I still have hope someone will eventually put it together here.
