College Gym News Recruiting Roundup plus Pan American Games: Recruiting Roundup: June 13 - College Gym News Things are about to get very interesting when the class of 2027 becomes officially recruitment-eligible on June 15th. But then again, are things ever not interesting in college gymnastics? This week sees some exciting elite competition plus the continuing aftershocks of the coaching changes at Cal and Clemson. Pan American Championships Hezly Rivera (LSU, ‘26) leads a strong five-person team for the Pan American Gymnastics Championships in Panama City, Panama. Three other top recruits, Tiana Sumanasekera (UCLA, ‘25), Dulcy Caylor (Florida, ‘26), and Jayla Hang (Florida, ‘26), will also compete in the competition which takes place June 12-15. I'm guessing that Hezly Rivera will never perform for LSU since she has deferred through the 2028 LA Olympics. All 4 of UF's 2026 recruits are good enough to have been on the US Pan Am Team. To say the 2026 class is loaded is a major understatement.

New: College Gym News 2027 Recruit Rankings: - College Gym News 5 Stars: 1. Eliaveta Grebenkova 2. Josie Lynch 3. Claire Pease 4. Jada Oliver 5. Lia Monica Fontaine 6. Reese Esponda 7. Galilee Vestnys 8. Madison Boyd I make note of gymnasts Jayla Hang follows on Instagram. She knows talent and I suspect she encourages gymnasts she likes to consider UF. Of CGN's 8 5-star recruits, Jayla is following 4; Josie Lynch, Claire Pease, Lia Monica Fontaine, and Reese Esponda. Galilee Vestnys has Utah listed as a college choice on her Instagram so she is likely headed to Salt Lake City. Madison Boyd isn't followed by Jayla, but she is at Brandy Johnson's Gym. UF gets its fair share of gymnasts coming out of there, Jocelyn Sasson this year via a transfer of gyms from Seattle to Brandy Johnson's. CGN's top 4-star recruit Brooke Reingold is also followed by Jayla Hang. Jayla Hang is following 5 of CGN's top 9 recruits, a good sign. Visit the page for CGN's 4 stars and down as there is no easy way to cut and paste their rankings. College Gym Fans and College Gym News only agree on 5 of each other's 8 5-star recruits. We'll see, but I think CGN except for their OU favoritism usually does a better job. In that favoritism regard for OU, the Sooners have gotten CGN's #1 recruit for several years in a row. Considering this, I wouldn't be surprised to see Eliaveta Grebenkova end up in Norman. As of Sunday, 6/15, all recruits are open season for recruiting.
Pan American Games Women's Individual Results: https://www.olympics.com/en/news/20...anama-all-results-scores-and-medals-full-list Article with excellent photo of Jayla and Hezley: Hang takes all-around gold, Rivera bronze at Pan Am Champs • USA Gymnastics Florida's Jayla Hang won the All-Around Gold with Dulcy Caylor finishing 4th at .067 behind Hezly Rivera of LSU for the All-Around Bronze. The All-Around Silver went to Lia Monica Fontaine of Canada who is a newly rated collegiate recruit likely to be highly desired in the 2027 recruiting class. Friday, 13 June Women's All-Around Jayla Hang (USA) – 55.300 VT: 13.933, UB: 13.867, BB: 13.733, FX: 13.767 Lia Monica Fontaine (CAN) - 53.96 VT: 14.033, UB: 13.433, BB: 13.100, FX: 13.400 Hezly Rivera (USA) – 52.667 VT: 13.800, UB: 11.400, BB: 13.900, FX: 13.567 Dulcy Grey Caylor (USA) - 52.600 VT: 14.267, UB: 12.100, BB: 13.433, FX: 12.800 Gabrielle Annissia Black (CAN) - 51.433 VT: 13.933, UB: 12.833, BB: 11.900, FX: 12.767 Alyssa Guerrier-Calixte (CAN) - 50.100 VT: 13.333, UB: 11.700, BB: 12.367, FX: 12.700 Emilia Acosta (ARG) - 49.966 VT: 13.333, UB: 12.167, BB: 11.933, FX: 12.533 Isabella Ayelen Ajalla (ARG) - 49.667 VT: 13.267, UB: 12.667, BB: 11.00, FX: 12.744 Rising Star Jayla Hang Wins 2025 Pan American Gymnastics Championship Hang put together an impressive effort during Friday’s joint-team qualification and all-around final. The future Florida Gator delivered the top scores on uneven bars and floor exercise, helping Team USA qualify in first for Saturday’s team final and qualifying for all four individual event finals. Her total score of 55.300 marks the highest score at a continental championship in 2025. With her result at today’s meet, Hang is in contention for a spot on the team headed to the 2025 World Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia. U.S. teammate Dulcy Caylor (future Florida Gator) was just behind Rivera in the all-around, finishing fourth before the two-per-country rule. Caylor, a finalist at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Trials, posted the highest U.S. score on vault, but will not participate in the apparatus final due to not competing a second vault. The Women's Gymnastics Team finals will begin at 3:30 CT today. Women's Gymnastics Individual Events finals will be held on Sunday afternoon.
The US Women's Team blew away every team in the competition, not close: U.S. sweeps team titles at Senior Pan Am Championships • USA Gymnastics https://static.usagym.org/PDFs/Results/2025/w_25panamchamps_team.pdf 1. USA 2. Canada 3. Brazil Jayla Hang has proven to be the best women's gymnast in the competition through the first 2 days of competition and with individual events to come tomorrow. The Men's Team finished first as well. Some of the best in the world was not in Panama City, Panama, but that is usually the case. The next meet bringing together the best in the world will be Worlds in Jakarta, Indonesia this fall. LSU and Oklahoma fans have got to be saying Oh Shit! about what they know they will be facing over the next 3 to 4 seasons at UF. It doesn't help LSU that Hezly has deferred through the 2028 Olympics.
Jayla has been on a roll in the 2025 elite season. She is College Gym News 2nd rated gymnast, but I believe that that top spot should belong to Jayla as well as the 2026 UF class being #1 instead of #2. Dulcy Caylor did extremely well too. Having Jayla and Dulcy represent so well is not a surprise to me. The UF 2026 class is as good as you can get. The class can only be better if UF were to somehow pick up another national and international talented and experienced gymnast in the class. I feel certain Simone Rose and Kieryn Finnell would have done extremely well too had they been on the US Pan Am Team. All 4 are high quality proven 5-star gymnasts.
Afternoon events session: Jayla won the bronze on vault and won the silver on bars. On to evening session for beam and floor.
Evening events session: Jayla won silver on beam missing gold by .034 and won silver on floor.-----Jayla is coming home with 2 golds, 3 silvers, and 1 bronze. Great job Jayla, the top gymnast in the Pan AM Games.
The medal scores for each of the individual event finals on Sunday: Women's vault finals 1. Karla Andrea Navas Boyd (PAN) - 14.334 2. Lia Monica Fontaine (CAN) - 14.200 3. Jayla Thuy Hang (USA) - 13.850 Women's uneven bars finals 1. Gabrielle Marie Hardie (USA) - 13.600 2. Jayla Thuy Hang (USA) - 13.533 3. Lia Monica Fontaine (CAN) - 13.167 Women's balance beam finals 1. Lia Grace Redich (CAN) - 13.267 2. Jayla Thuy Hang (USA) - 13.233 3. Hezly Esther Rivera (USA) - 13.000 Women's floor 1. Lia Monica Fontaine (CAN) - 13.800 2. Jayla Thuy Hang (USA) - 13.433 3. Gabrielle Marie Hardie (USA) - 13.133 Jayla barely missed gold on bars and balance beam.
More backfill on UF's 2026 recruiting class: Hang, Johnson go 1-2 in Pac Rim Championships all-around • USA Gymnastics Jayla Hang, Simone Rose, and Kieryn Finnell are three members of the class that went 1, 3, and 4 in the Pacific Rim Games at the end of April 2024: CALI, Colombia (April 27, 2024) – Jayla Hang (Bellevue, Wash./Pacific Reign Gymnastics) and Madray Johnson (Dallas, Texas/WOGA Gymnastics) locked down the all-around podium Saturday evening at the 2024 Pacific Rim Championships, winning all-around gold and silver, respectively. With both women finishing well ahead of the rest of the field, Hang took gold (54.800) and Johnson silver (52.950) in all-around competition during the women’s artistic session. Hang posted solid scores across vault (14.150), uneven bars (14.250), balance beam (13.850) and floor exercise (12.550) to come out on top. Canada’s Kahlyn Lawson won bronze with a 49.850. Americans Simone Rose (Sammamish, Wash./Pacific Reign Gymnastics) and Kieryn Finnell (Pittsford, N.Y./RGA) had the third (52.350) and fourth (51.050) highest score of the night, with Rose not being awarded bronze due to the two-per-country rule. Madray Johnson at 2 is an Oklahoma 2026 recruit. Add to this future Florida Gator Dulcy Caylor was on the Pan AM Games 2025 with Jayla Hang. You can see why I consider Jayla Hang to be the #1 gymnast in the 2026 class regardless of what is listed with College Gym News. Jayla is the constant over time plus she is having a great 2025 elite season, nobody better.
Super excited it’s past June 15th so hopefully we will get some new amazing baby soon! I know it’s unlikely we get anyone before the fall but it’s so exciting!
Have you seen Kayla DiCello's sister Kyra at any of UF's practices? I'm wondering if there is a mutual interest between Kyra and UF. Kyra is a high 3-star gymnast in the 2027 class: Login • Instagram Kyra DiCello, Hill's Gymnastics - MyMeetScores.com Kyra has a long way to go on bars and beam, but she is already pretty good on vault and floor. College Gym News has Kyra as a recruit to watch in the 2027 class. The CGN writer Gemma Selby CGN didn't acknowledge that Kayla is a Florida Gator. Recruits to Watch in the Class of 2027 - College Gym News Kyra DiCello Why she’s one to watch: While chances are fans are already planning to keep an eye on DiCello due to her sister, Olympic alternate Kayla DiCello, Kyra shines in her own right. Her best events are vault and floor, where she competes a Yurchenko half and a double layout, respectively. With improvements to bars and beam, DiCello could be a great all-arounder by the time she reaches college.
Haven’t seen her there. By my account we don’t have that many slots for 27 so I’m not sure she would be a top choice.
Checked CGN projected 2027 roster. UF has 19 with room for one more provided we don't have any transfers out of the program or lose anyone to career ending injury: Alyssa Arana Kaylee Bluffstone Kayla DiCello Gabby Disidore Skylar Draser Danie Ferris Anya Pilgrim Skye Blakely Lily Bruce Ly Bui Taylor Clark Jayla Booker Amelia Disidore Madelyn Dorbin Jocelyn Sasson Dulcy Caylor Kieryn Finnell Jayla Hang Simone Rose UF has national championship caliber rosters for 2026 and 2027 seasons. I'd say 2028 too except some may choose an opt out year to train for the 2028 LA Olympics. Think you mentioned Kaylee Bluffstone is considering transferring. If that happens, there would be 2 slots to get to the 20 max. I agree that Kyra DiCello likely wouldn't be a top option unless she glows up in a major way.
EDIT: Thanks to apfan413 for the roster number availability. 2027 is business as usual for UF on the recruiting front. Referring to post #75, if UF ends up with one slot for 2027, the ship might go to the top 4-star gymnast on College Gym News/4.5 stars on College Gym Fans, Brooke Reingold: - College Gym News https://www.instagram.com/brooke_reingold_2027/ Photos from a Florida Camp in 2024 and at Brooke's home gym working out in a Gator leotard: I have no inside information, speculation only and just the photo at UF and the leotard photo/video. I know this for certain, UF is likely going to have to be selective and will miss on gymnasts the coaching staff would be interested in because there are currently so few scholarships available for 2027.
I think there is some confusion. There will be many spots available for this upcoming recruiting class. Up to 8. I’m sure they won’t take that many to leave room for a transfer or two and also any redshirt years necessary. The gymnasts on the team for 27-28 (without the upcoming recruits) are: Skye Blakely Lily Bruce Ly Bui Taylor Clark Jayla Booker Amelia Disidore Madelyn Dorbin Jocelyn Sasson Dulcy Caylor Kieryn Finnell Simone Rose Jayla Hang I’m sure DiCello will take another year but still up to 7 spots for new recruits.
EDIT: Defer to apfan 413 who provided the correct information. Please disregard this post. Looking at the 9 SEC team scholarship slots currently available for 2027 as shown on College Gym News: 18 Alabama 17 Arkansas 19 Auburn 19 Florida 18 Georgia 22 Kentucky 18 LSU 16 Missouri 21 Oklahoma Both Kentucky and Oklahoma will have to shed from their current projected rosters to get down to the 20-roster limit and to take any 2027 recruits. Missouri is in the best position to bring in 2027 gymnasts. My guess is we'll see attrition from some of the top programs in the SEC. It's a tough spot to not be able to bring in new highly ranked gymnasts. The problem is exaggerated by the likelihood top gymnasts could be deferring for the 2028 LA Olympics.
The 27 recruits will be competing in the 2028 season. Those are the SEC teams’ numbers for the 2027 season. They all have space for multiple new kids to verbal in the fall
