Well if they’re going to make winter solstice a holiday then they need to add summer solstice too

He undoubtedly thinks it's another example of DEI and I'm sure that if he could do it he would withdraw the status of Juneteenth as a national holiday.

The “I don’t think Juneteenth should be a holiday” contingent thinks otherwise

I was an emergency responder that didn’t get those days off if they fell on my shift.
However,,,, the holiday pay was nice.

I'm fine with any extra potential day off I can get lol. And Juneteenth is a worthy holiday imo.

The only time my wife closes is New Years, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. She can't afford the other federal holidays, expenses don't take holidays, especially labor costs. I would rather see floating days instead of mandatory days, since there are those that would rather work on Thanksgiving and Christmas. It would also keep small businesses open on these days. Small businesses just don't have the cash to eat a day closed. Most have grown to build it in their expense sheet, but every day the feds add to the list, it's another day a small business has to absorb. My wife stayed open on the 19th, but it wasn't easy, for her it was an 18 hour day, which means the 10th straight 100+ hour week for her.

Agree. It’s difficult to agree with libbies when they’re so often wrong.
But hey they got one right.

At the risk of getting too off topic, there is an interesting reason behind that. Apparently, the Winter Solstice was on the 25th at one point, but the calendar did change over time as humans slowly realized there were not precisely 365 days in a year. With adjustments for leap years and some other more rare days added from time to time, it eventually settled on the 21st. Anyway, that is what I recall without looking it up.
