I really was hoping we'd land Pannell. From what I heard she was very much in our grasp. We jsut dont compete in the NIL world. I dont know what Keagen makes, but I do know I've heard what Falby made and some others and its crazy we have what we do.

 

Everyone has heard about Canady and the $1M. Obviously that's an extreme outlier. What would someone like "Falby and some other's make?" I just have no idea the range we are talking for a "very good" player.

 

The days of being able to recruit them to be gators just ‘because’ it’s great to be a Florida gator may all but be over. It’s show them the money time . And if you can’t run with the big dogs then you mights well stay on the porch.

 

In fairness, money has always been involved, it is just that direct payments have changed things. The competition / $$$ used to be with facilities. UF used to have the advantage. Now it's a straight money grab, unfortunately.

 

I wonder if we had much left after renewing Schmaker?

No problem Ocala, as to my dislike earlier. I respect your comment about being a great addition if added, but at basically a 1 to 1 ratio of strike outs to free bases last year (In the ASUN), I would hope we could attract someone more like your latest post about Miali entering the portal. She has a better than 2 to 1 strike out to free bases ratio, and is doing it in the SEC (Ole Miss). That’s more like the pitcher I was hoping to draw. Command is one of those innate skills that I would hope our pitchers have when they arrive. No worries though. Go Gators.

 

There are still some athletes who go to a college they love for reasons other than NIL. The majority of them honestly. Wallace was one, Shu and Jocey both are. Ava and Keagen. Jsut to name a few major players. All of which are great examples of gators.

 

Texas A&M picked up 2 pretty good infielders from Oklahoma State and on OF from Oklahoma today. And LSU got a highly rated OJ from Louisville - Chaz Lorenz.

Girls don't seem to be flocking to KSP through the transfer portal. I think the current roster is now at 15. Looks to me as though Scrappy, Rick & Ocala better suit up so there will be enough players to have an intrasquad game.

There's no such thing as amateur athletics anymore, for sure. But college is even worse than pros in that the pros, at least, have long term contracts with stipulations for getting out of them or extending them. In college athletics, it's an annual free agency bidding war and those with the deepest pockets win.
