Never mind the "libby meltdown", it does not bother you that they are lying to everyone and have no shame about it? That is the part that baffles me. The Trump family lies as often as they breathe, and yet, you defend that.

There is ZERO chance that this phone can be manufactured in the United States. Which, by the way, is not just a bunch of people screwing together phones, like that moron Lutnick described, it is hardware assembly, software loading, call-box testing, burn-in, etc....Reliability testing, Federal certification for RF Power levels, leakage, frequency spectrum rules, etc.....
Now, the one and only thing that they do have going for them is that Qualcomm sells a basic reference design where they have done the work of certifying all of the components and boards will work if you assemble what they tell you and how they tell you to. That is how all of the Chinese knock-off companies started, but first using, then stealing Qualcomm reference designs (by the way, the Koreans did some outstanding stealing too).

Even with a reference design in hand, it would take years to put all of that infrastructure into the United States AND find people here who know how to do any of that stuff, which is probably harder than repurposing an old Motorola assembly site. Further, this is why people are upset. If you or I tried to do this, the regulatory hurdles would be unbelievable. If Trump really goes through with this, you can pretty much believe he will use his influence as president to run interference and eliminate most of those regulatory issues in a manor is unfair to anyone else interested in entering this space.

Why would you need to do all of this for a licensing deal? They’re just going to sell a rebranded product that is already on the market.

And most likely manufactured abroad maybe in China, India or Vietnam. There is a possibility that almost all of the manufacture will be done abroad with the final assembly done in the US so that Donald and the boys can claim it's a US manufactured product.

This is true. They’re going to sell a rebranded Chinese phone, like the T-Mobile Revvl 7 Pro 5G which retails for $250, except its also going to have a gaudy gold coating that will scratch in no time. At least we’ll be able to identify the suckers.
