Not a fan of Waltz but putting any blame on him seems stupid to me. Even though the guy looks like a weirdo in the pictures on here I am sure Waltz never thought he would kill some one. I wonder if the guy was starting to have money issues. It appears that company of his that did work in the Congo ran out of funding about the time a lot of USAID funding was recently cut off there. He was asking around about finding a new job. Sometimes if people are used to having decent money and that dries up especially at his age they get suicidal. I have no doubts about that. We have devolved into tribal warfare. More important to score points for our team than it is to have modicum of common decency.

 

I don't think people were arguing that mental health was "very seldom the issue." The point on the whole use of the words "mental health" in regards to shootings is that it tends to be a deflection, as reflected in the fact that the term itself is so broad such as to make it useless as an actionable solution and specifics beyond those words are rarely applied. When asked for specifics, the people saying the term "mental health" often retreat to either their more comfortable topics ("get these people some Christianity!" to "Bill Gates is programming people to do this" depending on their personal level of crazy) or shrug their shoulders. In fact, many of the people who state "mental health" as a deflection are those that will dismiss mental health treatment in other contexts or look down on those receiving such treatment or needing such treatment.

BTW, people should be cautious about the political stuff, as the list in the car was apparently basically a list of Pro-Choice politicians and abortion providers.

This was a huge and nasty deal in Minnesota last Monday.

Even though the Minnesota Senate voted 37-30 giving shade for senators to vote no, somehow Hoffman was picked up as someone that along with Hautman had to go as examples, maybe it was just being so close and easy to target in their residences. I'll wager the other dems on the list will turn out to be those that pushed the final senate vote to a yes vote of 37-30.
