Its strange to me that people seemed less concerned that two nuclear powers were on the brink of war a few weeks ago than Iran getting a hypothetical nuclear arms program that would still be years away from weaponization. I cant even remember if we had a thread about it.

What would be their goal there? They obviously want to be a regional power. Dont need ICBMs to reach the Saudis, Gulf states, Israel, etc. There are what, only like 4-5 countries now with those type of weapons. Its a considerable expense.

Iran would want an ICBM to hit " the great satan" the USA.

If NATO keeps pushing Russia's buttons Iran may have long range capability pretty fast. We have definitely been warmongers in that area over there. The Iraq War should have never happened. Having said that if I was Israel I wouldn't let Iran develop nukes if I could stop it. As far as the US I think we should just react to whatever Iran does to us in retaliation and their attacks on shipping lanes and the rest.

Maybe, but it would cost them a lot of time and money to get those sorts of weapons.

They don’t need ICBMs to hit Israel but they certainly need it hit the US.

You’re right. Just like it’s taken them a lot of time and money towards getting a nuclear weapon

Well, that's somewhat speculative, and we are talking about action taken by a country ruled by right-wing fanatics, Israel

Then why haven't we bombed Pakistan, North Korea, Russia or China? All of those countries pose as great, if not greater threat to the United States than Iran does. For that matter, Israel is the only country that has actively attacked, bombed and sunk a US Navy ship on the list nuclear powers. Why not bomb them??

We’re now thirty years into “nine weeks until Iran has nukes.”

You have it backwards. Israeli does not have all of the military capabilities they would need to guarantee a successful strike. They have proved they do have the intelligence capability to provide the right targets for a successful strike.

Who do you think are the people in Europe that would make Jews feel unsafe? Lots of Italian violence against Jews on the record in the last year and half?

Things have occurred in the past 30 years that have hampered Iran’s development. If everyone just sat on their hands and did nothing, Iran would already have a nuclear weapon

None of those countries have a recent history of actually killing US service members, where Iran has been doing it for years in the Middle East. Iran has also had a history of attack US Navy boat/ships.

Fair, but maybe if we would overthrow the legally elected government in a few of those other places, they would be more upset?

Meanwhile, do people really understand what they are saying when they talk about bombing Iran's nuclear capability?? Are we going to bomb their reactors to the point where we create multiple Chernobyl events? Not sure if the Israeli's thought that through, but if we do, then they will suffer from the fall out too. Do we leave the reactors alone and bomb the enrichment facilities, creating the equivalent of multiple dirty bombs? That will get the Iranian people, who largely hate their government, on our side. What is it that we are actually going to bomb and what do you people really think that we will gain by doing it?
