Guess I'm going to have to find as many Tech games on the tube next year as possible because Mia at short is something I don't want to miss.
Two of them were early enrollees. Being a freshman at UF can be a shock maybe one or both of them could not make the grade in class. I have a personal opinion of one of them, and it’s not good when I talk to her at the First Pitch banquet.
Also interesting nobody in the current roster except McLellan has commented on Mias transfer post. Some that are gone like Falby, Brooke, Hovermale, and Lamar have. Makes me think everything will work itself out. Cali Decker and her mom have....lol
Just happened to find a junior college game on ESPN+. The pitcher for NW Fl State College seemed decent. Looked and found she had signed with So. Ala. Makes me wonder if many of these players have major college potential and are actively recruited. I can’t recall any JUCO transfers at UF. Also for you info, in addition to AUSB, ESPN will be carrying Northwoods League Softball starting tomorrow available on ESPN+. I think this league is primarily college softball players who pay to play for the experience.
Texas Tech lands another quality player. Their money people are really opening the checkbooks. 2024 Missouri Valley Conference MVP Jackie Lis Transfers to Texas Tech Softball
First, free agency killed my love for pro sports. Then the portal and NIL and playoff committees has severely weakened my love for college sports. Softball has become the latest victim. I’ll still watch and cheer for the Gators but it won’t be the same. The maidenhead has been broken. The purity lost. The game we love violated by greed.
Yes, I noticed that too. Even if there hadn't been any issues before (not saying there weren't) I think its fair to say that the team were hurt by her mum's post, who wouldn't be? Add to that the reports that Mia refused to move to 1b then it adds weight to her agreeing with her mum, and that's no way to treat your team mates. Its not their fault that she was unhappy with her lot. Compared with the comments for Alyssa Hovermale, you're right, its telling. Its a shame because I had really hoped it was all her mum, and she had backed her into a corner with her post, and she seemed close with her team. I read somewhere, possibly reddit, that her father had been banned from coming to games recently because of his attitude, does anyone know if that's true?
Gotta think Lis will play somewhere besides SS. She's a great hitter, no doubt, but made 15 errors, fielding at .922 this year for Southern Illinois. Maybe 2nd considering TT's lineup. Texas Tech had a very good defensive infield this year. Their SS Hailey Toney was a freshman who hit .332, only made 11 errors and hit 2nd in their lineup. Their 2nd baseman Alexa Langaliers was a senior who hit .301 and only made 4 errors. So there is an opening there. Their 1st baseman Lauren Allred was a redshirt sophomore who hit 3rd in their lineup, hit .357 and only made 5 errors. Their 3rd baseman Bailey Lindemuth was a freshman who also can pitch, hit .305 and made 10 errors. It will be interesting to see what the TT coach does with Mia for sure.
I saw him during the super regional on TV but idk about that. I think there a lot of truth to Texh messing with her as far back as April. My thought is her considering it caused problems and she went on that way once everything else happened. Maybe was gonna happen regardless. As obvious from her post...she got a bag.
I agree, I heard about one other Gator being approached back then too, and she turned them down. I didnt hear about Mia, but then I saw in here, possibly from you, that 2 Florida players had been approached so Mia was obviously the other one. I had hoped that her leaving was all down to her mum's outburst, and I felt bad for her, but now it seems pretty clear that she was on board, or at the very least hedging her bets!
I would be surprised if jwill caused an unprovoked problem. He comes to a lot of games and is pretty much emotionless. I see him at basketball games regularly. As flashy as he was on the court, he doesn’t draw much attention to himself off the court.
