Your ship (regular season most important) has sailed long ago In search of $$$ and not coming back. I tend to agree on the importance of the regular season but the success of the NCAA basketball tourney changed all that.

I have an ole Miss friend and he was happy to get a title any way he could, given all their good teams that failed. I suspect Noles, Hogs would feel the same.

As for the Vols, titles 50/60 years ago don't mean much since current fans didn't experience the party.

 

My preferences: OrSU > Arky> the field > FSU > an asteroid impacting Omaha > Duke

 

Definitely a better season for the canes. I don't believe they even made the ncaas last year and it's been a long time since they were in Omaha. At some point tho Arteaga needs to beat UF/FSU and the little bros (FSU/fiu,Stetson, etc) if he wants to keep his job.

 

Glad Louisville knocked out Miami and Arizona punched out North Carolina. The brackets and seedings have been blown up this year and I hope the upsets continue. Although Arkansas is the higher seed, I much prefer seeing them in Omaha and Smug Vitello and Tennessee. And what a story it would make if lowly Murray State could beat Duke in Game 3 tomorrow and get there! Maybe even UT-San Antonio can take out UCLA.

 

No theyy were under .500 this year. Was chatter mid season he could be gone, then they went on that little run, before losing 7/8 to end.

I would think acc success & not missing post season would Trump the rivalries. but ??

 

Hate em both but I have both of them and Vandy to win it all. I can’t find Vandys game anywhere. Must be a pay stream

 

I think I'm more shocked by Arizona winning in Chapel Hill than I would be by UTSA or Murray State winning their supers.

 

Im not trying to change anyones mind on it,, JMO I personaly never even think winning a NC in any season. Just be relevant is first goal, and it evolves from there. If they finish as one of best teams over the reg season, what happens after doesnt do much for me either way, as far as how I viewed the overall season.

The reb fans should be happy, not saying they arent the recognized champs.. Just doesnt change my opinion on them as a program.. Nor would a Nole title .. Top 5ish program either way. IMo. First thing that comes to my mind when Rebs title mentioned is.. last team in (avg team) but it doesnt mention that in record books.

On the vol thing,, i think were somewhat on same page( why would it matter),, but I do value all titles the same regardless of era. USC baseball will always be #1 in all time programs ranking for ex...IMO but Id probabaly rather have Texas overall resume. One of, if not only, whos done it from start w/out many drop off years.

 

yep I thought Heels were legit , and probably still are.

Arz (& UCLA) may be a bit better than everyone thought.

Will 2026 Arizona's claim for a 2/3 seed be rejected all the way out of the tourney like 2022 NC State? Only time will tell...

 

SOS, RPI, etc. are all derived over the course of a season based on where teams start out in the rankings at the beginning of the year. The "experts" put SEC teams all over the Top 10 and Top 25 and that biases the computers from the beginning, IMO. Maybe I'm wrong and, if so, maybe someone will explain it better to me. But it just seems that the SEC favoritism was just so over the top this year that is skewed all the rankings and computer stuff that spits out to decide who gets national seeds, etc. Whatever the reason, only Arkansas & LSU have lived up to all the SEC hype in the post season. The rest of the teams crashed and burned.

 

Things may have changed, but I lived in Miami for 10 years and still know a few folks there. Continued losing to FSU and especially Florida will get a coach fired unless you are offsetting it with trips to Omaha, which hasn't happened since Jim Morris was the coach.
Arteaga is a cane alum and a popular local so he may have a longer leash tho

I didnt think RPi had any media ranking influence, and why rpi is so out of whack the first month or so, w/ alot of small teams w/ good records, especially if all on road( northern teams) sec teams that always have poor ooc scheds,,ark,lsu,, usually start sec play pretty low in rpi rankings. down in 100s a lot of times.

As far as media/comittee sec bias,, no doubt. But can be argued theyve earned it last 10 years or so. I think there may be more under valued teams than over. due to lack of exposure etc.. but I also heard D1 crew say the committee is 90% metrics.. they arent watching games/ following season like 'we' do. Have no idea if they know this for fact or not, but Ive always kind of assumed that anyways. I also wouldnt be surprised if any of media polls are even in the room, but just guessing. Miminmal if any factor IMO. but certainly sec bias either way.
