I'm pretty conservative but had little if any problem with Ono being appointed. IMO and not wanting this to go to THFSG, I believe you are seeing a conservative push back to move education back to the center a bit.

All this on the advice of lawyers who are going to continue to sue. People are stupid.

The same lawyers who got paid for this case probably already have multiple suits prepared to tear this one apart, lol.

Is this judge allowed to destroy ammetuer sports athletes... and make them legal employees of their colleges and universities? I find that hard to believe that one judge has the power to remake laws...

Of course...they want the pot being stirred and suits being filed. Win or lose, they profit.

It is a civil settlement. It changes no laws nor addresses the topic of player employment. All that will be continue to be hashed out in the courts and State legislatures. States that currently don't allow direct University payments to athletes will be scrambling.

Lots of stuff to keep attorneys employed these days. You need an attorney for just about anything you do. These judges that hand these rulings down are attorneys too, for the most part.
I realize there are lawyers on this site and I’m not trying to disparage the profession. In fact my grandfather was an attorney and my personal hero since reading To Kill A Mockingbird has been Atticus Finch, (fictional character but somehow seemed real life to me). But Damn! Where does this crap end.

There are lawyers and then there are lawyers. It can be a respectable profession.

Colleges and Universities paying athletes directly is employment... whether it's called that or not makes no difference to the facts.
