Schnall played at Coastal and was an assistant. He was pretty much groomed for this job. I doubt he’s going anywhere.

Coastal has some $$$.. They really do a great job recruiting HS kids and developing them. The kids love playing there.

 

half of the top 8 national seeds are already gone (1,2,4 & 7)

5 (North Carolina) and 8 (Oregon State) could be knocked out today.

3 (Arkansas) and 6 (LSU) are both up 1-0

 

Im sick of LSU and still irritated it took a generational pitcher and one year transfer to keep us from a 2nd title. Frustrating we have been so close so many times while LSU, Miami pile up multiple titles and even teams like Oregon state and south Carolina got over the hump to win at least two.

Just like football and basketball, I have a set few teams i hate to see win it all. For me in baseball its fsu, Miami, lsu followed by Tennessee, Texas or any school that can win it in all 3 major sports like Florida has. Oddly enough I dont mind seeing Arkansas, south Carolina or a handful of other sec teams win it. Not that im rooting for it because the SEC is no friend to florida and the conference pride thing is no longer important for credibility like it once was.

 

Yeah this was first year all the renovations were done , so it worked out timing wise. Holds about 7500 now. They added temp seating on RF roof for Supers, that brought it up to 7800 or so. Plus the free parking garage viewing, so over 8K per game this weekend.. Not LSU/Ark level,,but getting there..

And no reason to apologize, but thx.. Ill never complain about a season ending in a top 8 seed, or just making tourney for that matter..lol They blew their chance Fri night(Sat morning) & Game 2 went about as expected. Or maybe better than expected really. Fr P kept them in it vs a 1st rnd arm.

This was a rebuild, or a no idea what to expect year w/ all the Freshman playing. Crazy thing is none of the 3 FR were everyday starters until guys started getting hurt or not hitting. Nobody here wants to hear about injuries. But no Guevarra or Beyleu vs Coastal arms was a huge loss. They relace Fabian & Carter, who were only 2 hitting under 280 in line up,,both around 240 mark.

Oh , and Coastal vastly underseeded at 13 , as I said thye were when bracket released. Should of been 8/9 at minimum IMO

Im ready for next year.. I can name starting 9 , rotation & closer right now(pre portal) Would like to bring in surefire ace(who wouldnt), but other than that. Pretty set...if portal goes well anyways..lol

 

yep agree with all of that,, just wasnt sure they could or would match UVa/power 4 offers. If so, then yeah I doubt hes leaving.

Just a bit surprised they have funds to do so.. Not just HC salary, but NIL to keep all these recruits. Every arm they brought in that had eligibility left.. I thought to self.. I hope Butch/AU gets their info before leave town..lol

 

Could be worse, u could be a fan of FSU or Clemson or even Arkansas. Many CWS trips, but no titles.

 

I was kinda rooting for Auburn after the Gators got knocked out. Now I guess Oregon State, put a 4th ring on the pinky. I kinda like the #2 school overall and #1 engineering school in the state. But to hell with Duke and Miami.. and to an only slightly lesser degree, LSU.

 

How does your perception of those programs change if they were to luck into one? Or does it?

 

Im all in for a Murray - Coastal finals.

 

I'd be OK with it if Coastal wins... I've got a mental "worthy champion" filter Murray doesn't clear.

 

Exactly why I value reg season over post season in all sports. one of many reasons actually . post season is a crap shoot in these college formats. aka TV titles

Murray had solid year. Entered tourn at 38-13.. Not like they would be a Fresno St ..or ole miss..

but they may blow a 10-3 lead today..lol

 

Mine may be an outlier opinion, but it would certainly seem be a positive for their fans to shed the "always good, never great/choker" label. I know some Vols are frustrated by their inability to win a basketball title while UF has 3.

It definitely made a difference when the Gators finally won in 2017, not to mention that first official football title. Not sure it really helps recruiting in the NIL environment but it would shut up rival fans. There is something to be said for that.

 

Oh it definitely makes a difference to the program. Or should.. I was just meaning from an outside perspective.. Like would it matter if Ark had 1 title in 20 chances as opposed to 0? And what if the team that finally wins one had sub par by Ark standards reg season.. ole miss type title.. does that matter?

But i think you mentioned the biggest value..other fans...lol I just couldnt care less what others do anymore.. you mention vols/uf hoops.. So if vols had couple titles back in 50s 60s(for ex),, they wouldnt be frustrated now w/ UFs 3?

Glad for UAz > UNC. I always favor the schools with engineering over those that don't. (Any chance UF can send Joe Glover back to UAz? No? Had to try.)

 

Canes give up a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 and get bounced by Louisville.

 

Should still keep Arteaga off the hot seat for another year at least.
