Barnhill's dad complained that she never did anything for Kelly. Never got her a change-up. Never improved what she had. Luckily, Kelly started out pretty great.

 

Is it possible that Mia was essentially dismissed from the team? I just read her mom's post again and assuming that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, MW's probably not helping the locker room. And we know that CTW doesn't put up with bad chemistry -- just look to his jettisoning the Fagans on the eve of the playoffs.

 

I think its very likely that her mum's public rant is what led to Mia leaving. She didnt really give Mia or TW a choice after that did she?
There seemed to be no indication that Mia wanted to leave, even in her mother's post it sounded like she was expecting her to be a Gator next season.

None of us can know what Mia is like in the locker room, but from the outside as a viewer, she seemed like she fit right in with her team mates, and appeared happy.

Personally, I feel like mumma Williams had too much wine one night and made a huge mistake that has screwed her daughter over big time. Either that or it was a calculated move to push her daughter towards an offer that she had no intention of taking, so mum took her choice away.
If she lands where I believe she will, then I will be convinced that the last theory is the case.

I think its an awful thing she did either way, her daughters bridges are not hers to burn.

If Mia went to CTW and said, "Wow, coach, my mom's (mum's) a piece of work. Really sorry about that," I doubt any bridge would have been burnt.

Just cuz you have a wacky mum who posts crap on the Internet doesn't mean you have to leave the program.

I have to think this is either Mia's decision or CTW effectively dismissed her -- and her mother's post is a reaction to that, not the cause.

 

This is equally possible. Seems strange that TW might have effectively dismissed her this year when she has improved a lot since last year though, and her mum's post sounded like she was expecting her to still be a Gator next season. Who knows?

I could see him being might pissed though, maybe not for the personal attack, he probably has thicker skin than that, but for the damage it could have done to the programme, especially if he is pursuing sought after transfers, and also the dynamic for the girls would be changed.
Mia's mum went after her team mates too, she basically tore down the whole pitching staff, and targeted players already there and coming in too, I cant imagine everyone would be so happy to accept the "Jeez, my mom is nuts" apology and still be fine with Mia.

I can't believe a mum would actually do that to her kid, I feel bad for Mia.
Wherever she goes now she's going to be the known as the player with 'That Mom'

 

Lot of speculation/drama here and I've read most of it and have no insider knowledge. Guess I'm dense, but i have a hard time understanding what the Williams mom complaint is/was. Rothrocks involvement?

Mia pretty much started every game this year and played much better. If anything it seemed like she got the benefit of the doubt last year.
Maybe she wanted to be the starting SS/3B??.

While my preference is "do anything for the team" I really dont have a problem with someone leaving if they dont like the position they are being asked to move to. Thats essentially how we got Skylar. You won't be much help to a team of you are that unhappy so just move on.

She was rated the #1 player in the class and she wasn't even on my list of kids I thought we were interested in. Not because she isn't good. But because we probably knew there was no mutual interest. BTW...UCLA has lost the best of their staff...Kaitlin Terry and Fisher are both in the portal. I have enough trouble following our news and don't try to read what is being said about UCLA. But, and correct me if I'm wrong, I doubt any mothers are pounding on Kelly Inouye-Perez that she is a monster eating up her wonderful and pristine players.

 

Speaking of Kelly Inouye-Perez this is far off-topic so if that consumes anyone...go for it. A story about her. This is years ago. Probably when Bubba Nickles was coming off her freshman year at UCLA. Anyway, Bubba had one of the most impressive summer seasons with USA National U-18 I have ever seen. Dynamic doesn't come close to being an accurate description. She was essentially impossible to get out...by Japan or anyone else. I had not a clue how to get ahold of Bubba to tell her how blown away I was so I wrote to Kelly, told her I was a die-hard Gator. Asked her to tell Bubba for me how off the charts I was with her performance. Never expected a response. Kelly wrote back in less than 10 minutes and that went on back and forth for several exchanges. It ended when I said, "how does a kid named Bubba end up at UCLA instead of Bama?" She laughed and said, "no idea...she doesn't look like a Bubba."

 

That's a cool story! KIP made me laugh during the WCWS when her team put a party hat on her head during their 3rd inning party they do. She was the person you drag out to a party and they around glaring at everyone. You could tell she thought it was so dumb. But she let them do it because it worked for that team
